Personally, I feel that the series is getting worse. T3 didn't live up to the first 2, Its a movie with Grade A special effects, and B movie directing, writing, and acting. Still, I enjoyed it. But why did they let Jonathan Mostow direct it? The only 2 movies he did before were Breakdown and U-571.

And so with the 4th installment I was pleased they changed the cast, but my heart sank when I heard MCG was directing it...the man that did Charlie's Angels 1 and 2. Still, I was glad another installment was coming out. And they decided to try for a pg-13 rating, since live free or Die hard did so well. Personally, this made no sense to me. T2 grossed more than 100 million dollars more than Die Hard 4 did, and it came out 16 years before. Did they get what they hoped for? A movie as great as Live Free or Die Hard? Nope.

You know what could have helped? If you got the director from Die Hard 4, not charlie's angels.

Personally, the changes they made to the timeline made me mad. Between the t-1 and t-800, there were a lot of machines I wanted to see. Nope. They jumped the gun and went right for the t-600 and t-800.

As for the tv series, the Sarah connor Chronicles, I haven't seen a lot of it. Though its not great, its not really bad either.

So what do you think?

It's getting worse.

I rented Terminator Salvation last week for a dollar and even then I felt like I paid to much.

Awful writing, obnoxious characters I WANTED to see die, and piss poor production.

Seriously, the thing felt like a slightly above average made-for-tv movie.

This a tough one.

They got better up till like Terminator 2. Then they sorta slid down a little, then sort of changed. The newest one is just.. well, it isn't really Terminator, its basically a little bonus.

I prefer to think of it like this, the first 2 are the actual series. Anything after that is kind of bonus material which you can take or leave, or think of as a "What If?" Personally I think it should've stopped after 3, but 3 should've been a lot better.

But I think they're starting to create a hell of a lot of paradoxes with the fourth one.
It's called time travel, not do what the fuck you want and call it a plot device dammit.

Fuck me it's getting worse. Terminator was a classic. Terminator 2 was the [HEADING=1]Greatest Sequel Ever Made[/HEADING]

And that's where they should have left it. T3 was trash, and don't even get me started on this one.

I feel your pain.

You know T2 set the record for highest box office improvement versus the first film? It had an increase of gross of 434%

Essentially this.

You know, I heard that in Terminator Salvation there was actually supposed to be this ending
John Connor does die, but they play it off as if Sam Worthington's character dies and that machine leads the resistance as "John Connor"

I personally feel thats a far better ending since John Connor in that movie was probably THE WORST CHARACTER EVER. God, I couldn't stand the guy.

T3 and 4 stand nowhere near the greatness the first two are at.

The first 2 were great. 3 was alright. Salvation was a piece of crap, I'm never watching another Christian Bale movie again, I can't stand his crap acting and hoarse voice that sounds like he's growling at everyone.

I know, its almost like he's getting worse. I hated the growling in the Dark Knight.

The first one was fantastic, and the second one lived up to all the hype and more. The third one was such a kick in the balls that I vowed never to look at the series again.

Get James Cameron back, and the movies will be good again.

Formula for good Terminator movies:
Is James Cameron there? No? It will suck.

Also, less Christian Bale and his throaty yells would be nice...

meh i think the first 3 where good, brilliant if i do say so myself.

but with the prequel (which is set to be another trilogy) they had to give it a different feel to it, it is the middle of the war, and obviously would be a lot different than going into the future to prevent it.

i think people dont like it because either Arnie isnt in it (properly anyway) or because of the machines themselves, with so many more added in they can get quite unbelievable to make.

could be wrong with that opinion, but they had to give a different feel to it in my opinion to make it work

Are you serious? Terminator 4 was awful. They've obviously gotten worse and should have stopped after 2.

Also, Live Free or Die Hard was better than the original.

Terminator 1 and 2 set the bar really high because it was directed by James Cameron.

Terminator 3 and 4 are bad as it is. Even I reject the Sarah Connor Chronicles.
