This is the closest thing I have or ever will get to writing a pony thread, so sorry to any Pony haters, and sorry if I invoke the anger of the herd.

So it goes without saying that Ponies have been popular on this forum for a little while now. However there seems to be an attempt to build an MMO revolving around My little Pony:FIM.

It seems to skirt boundaries of copywrite infringement, but it represents a bigger question.

Is the Bronie fad strong enough to merit and support a game with as staggering a risk vs reward scenario as an MMO? Just as a gauge point and the sake of argument, Lets say that we would need to see at least 300 positive votes before it could be considered that the franchise could support the MMO (even if it could or could not, this is just being done as a cross sampling to illustrate if the community actually has that level of support)

I wouldn't go near it but I would support it as I feel bronies are a good thing for breaking sexual prejudice and such.

I'm fine with the whole phenomenon, but this just seems like a pretty bad idea. Not everything needs a tacked-on MMO, after all.

I just cannot see how this would work as a MMO, what would you do in it?

I haven't and before someone says to, I don't care to watch the show but from what I'd imagine of a MMO what would the players grind towards? Skills? How would you introduce combat or something to aspire to how would the players compete against each other so the game doesn't stagnate? I'd be concerned about it's lasting appeal.

Sorry to the Pony fans but in my opinion I can't see this happening or being a worthwhile investiment of time or money when other MMO's will eat it alive.

I think it would play something like free realms where you have basic combat but with masses of extras to do.

Beats me, but MMOs have been built around less developed concepts before.

I'm tempted to contribute, if only to see what an MMO that would by its very subject matter not involve competitive combat look like.

I think so,I mean personally all MLP has gotten my is bursts of pure insanity (As in me being insane) and a mental war.
But the fandom seems to like making games, hell I heard of 3 pony mmos being made (Including this one you mentioned) so yeah,I would have to say that the fandom could power an mmo if they got together.

How would the mmo work? I mean would it be a wow clone, a second life type game-life-simulater thing?
Actually that second one would be pretty neat if they did it right. Chalk me up as a supporter.

Ah Tale of Tales, you never really know what they're going to do,but you know it'll be artsy as all hell. Let's see, short game about an old lady dying,FATALE (I don't know how to organize it),a horror game based on Little Red Riding Hood,a iOS app that is a box with random stuff inside it,and an MMO about deer.

Let's give these guys a hand folks, they have quite a history of things they made compared to every other indie developer ever.

As long as there is no combat and it basically works with a system of harvesting and upkeeping friendships with other player through social choices/acts/interactions.
(Second life-ish)

As much as I'd love to, I can easily see this as a whole game based upon the hobbit quests in LotRO, endlessly helping with (what I consider mundane) tasks and delivering stuff.

Nope, Oatbarton made me rage so hard it took 2 hours to go to sleep, think I'd pass on doing that every night.
