Hey everyone.

Apparently this is making international News

Well, there's a big bit of hoo-rah over it, and I don't personally blame them But I don't think that it was intentionally 'racist' as such - just in bad taste.

And there's clearly a streak of parody, what with the 'Michael' being a white guy in white face.

The real question is, is the world really as touchy as to globally comdemn a comedy act that was clearly not meant to be taken seriously?

Edit: Thinking about it, I get the feeling that people would be MORE offended if these guys had portrayed the Jackson five as white guys.

P.S: It's nice to see that we can still have civilised conversations about sensetive topics without it devolving into flamewar, thanks to all of you!

I went as the color black for halloween last year

it involved me riding the bus dressed all in black including blackface

I almost got my ass kicked by these black guys

even though I wasn't even making a state about race at all

it's srsbsnss

but the funniest claim I ever heard was that if you didn't like the Cleveland Indians you were racist.. that's a lol.

something I'd have to agree with.
PC is getting seriously out of hand now. it's gone over the top, so much so...
that I don't even want to say what's happening where I live now.

It was a joke made in bad taste. end of story.

I'm all for being pollitically correct, but they should just issue an apology and everyone should be satisfied.
They didn't intend on being offensive, so if they make it up to those who disliked it, everything should be fine.

Its when people get offended for the fact that something can be offensive that bothers me. And that's a fine line, but one that should be noted.

That being said, I didn't find it funny....

Well, a lot of people are just looking for the littlest excuses to exploit racism nowadays.
I would say "This just stamped my faith in humanity down into the dirt", but not all are bad, hence that would fall under the category of racism against humanity and you have no right to post here.
I heard about a black person who got off the hook in some botched refund or return because he made cries to "RACISM!".
On a completely random note;
Why does everyone hate the BLACK jellybean?

Also, why does everyone keep chucking that annoying phrase "PC is going too far" around?

Seriously, stop it. God damn it, it's not "PC", it's just people going out of their way to be offended or... ATTENTION WHORES AND IDIOTS!

I personally don't have a problem with ethnically focused comedy as long as there's a point to it, Blazing Saddles is a brilliant example, while it was controversial with its racial approach to comedy, it was a satirical piece on how Hollywood altered history in its portrayals of the Old West. This on the other hand, has absolutely no point, I can't even believe that people still find black face comedy funny, it's not even done with any sophistication, like say, Tropic Thunder.

People in general have a right to get offended by what they see. Nothing said here will ever change their views on it. All we can do is nod, complain and move on.

I didnt think it was too funny, but it wasnt racist.

The thing i find funny with this thing is that they did it a few years ago, i mean the excact same thing, except they guy playing micheal was black, and nobody cared about it when they did it 20 years ago, why should we care now?

I agree with what you said, its like the Anton du Beke thing he didn't mean to come across racist and has apologised for what he has said, egh and that little comic thing has actually made my day, thankyou and heres some cake.

Harry Connick Jr can go fuck himself. The douchebag has a very short memory, as he's blacked his face and put on an afro wig for skits on both saturday night live, and our own d-generation's late show in early 90s.

So if the tribute to michael jackson and the jackson 5 was racist, then he's just as friggin' racist, and needs to get off his high horse.

Unintentional racism is sill racism, it's just easier to get over it. I know enough about that country to know that they differ greatly in their views on race, and so I can see how this could be innocent enough. Does that make it any less offensive? No. Do I really care? Not really. For me the interesting part was Connick's reaction. I didn't have that guy pegged as being very sensitive about race issues.

I'm a black (and white) guy living in Idaho for crying out loud, I know what genuine racism looks like, and I don't think these people were being that. Sill, it is offensive.

No it's not funny. No it's not racist. Yes people are stupid. For the record the chasers "make a realistic wish foundation" was hilarious. Just because you don't find something funny doesn't make it offensive.

I don't know if he was actually personally offended by it, but rather he saw what it was and made a comment about how it would be seen in america, and in general, he was right.

I hate when people pretend to be offended at stuff like this just so they have something to complain about.
