I don't listen to hip-hop.

Seriously though, I've never been one to be on either side of that fence.

Vertigo is basically the same as DC, right (an imprint of DC or whatever)? I guess between the two choices, I'll go with DC then. They made Lobo, too, so that's win right there.

I have always preferred Marvel's characters. However, DC isn't run by hacks to anywhere near the same degree as Marvel. I don't think DC went bankrupt the way Marvel did, and DC has worked harder for better continuity.

In the end, all preferences aside, DC is simply a better company. They focus on the art more than Marvel does by however slight an amount.

where is dark horse, vertigo, or atomic fox?
Well, Vertigo is owned by DC and I was talking about the two mainstream oldies. I don't know about you but the "Marvel or DC" argument came up a lot at my lunch table. If I was taking all companies into the mix we'd be here a very long time just listing off all the independent groups.

The correct answer is, of course, Marvel.
I'd have to disagree, but, only if we're counting Vertigo. I mean, I've looked a lot of Marvel's stuff for a serious equivalent like DC has with Vertigo, and come up empty. But if we're talking about their main line-up, I'd go with Marvel I guess, they're just more fun overall, and DC er...well, so a lot of the main books are a little crap. Though there are a few here and there, Batman for example has rarely let me down, from the Long Halloween to The Killing Joke to The Dark Knight Returns, all freaking awesome :3

However! Above even those, I count Dark Horse Comics to be far superior, mostly because they get all the weird stuff :3

If I had to choose, I'd go with DC, ONLY because Vertigo, when in high gear, pretty much kicks the crap out of anything Marvel has ever produced.

Ah yes, I agree that Vertigo is incredible and has given us things like the Sandman and all of Gaiman's other stuff (well, most of it) but on the mainstream level Marvel kicks DC's ass.

DC, simple as. That the DC verse has never really taken itself that seriously, especially good that it has so much weirdness in it, has always had me preferring it. Its imprints as well, such as Vertigo and Wildstorm (one very large and elaborate mickey take of the marvel way of doing things if you ask me) sway me.

personally i like marvel. ive always liked the x-men over anything dc has ever pumped out. and i love the wolverine peices such as old man logan and the end. plus the punisher. the punisher is clear win.

in fact the only dc that i really like is preacher, just because...well its fucking preacher!
its the automatic win in any situation

DC, seriously Watchmen!
Those bastards don't deserve the DC logo on that graphic novel, as awesome as it is.

Marvel, because their storytelling has gotten much, much better over the years. DC put far too much emphasis on the JLA and the big two.

EDIT: But Summer events just don't count...What's the fucking point when they always lay down the most anticlimatic ending known to man??
