You can definatley tell it's happening with steam taking over PC gaming in general.
Personally when i buy a game, I like to have a physical copy of the disk. But in this day and age it's pretty much pointless. Most of the reasons one would buy a physical copy have faded into PC history. Now you have to activate your game through steam and I couldn't help telling myself "probably should of just bought it off steam" and thats EXACTLY what steam want's you to think. Sure there's no disk but its not like anyone else can use it with the 1 game per account situation and I could loose or damage it. Is it ok for the PC disk to fade into gaming history? And will consoles eventually follow as more and more people become acustom to not having a physical copy?

This may be only the start. Next PC games could be restricted to those with an internet connection at all times to play games. Or maybe xbox will only allow the game you buy to be played on one profile/xbox. Just wild speculations but who knows? They might take a page out of steam's book, and who wouldn't? Valve must be swimming in cash.

And you know what?

It is perfectly acceptable for game companies to do with their property as they please.

Video games are a luxury item, not some god-given right that HAS to be this free thing.
