So, I went to the farmers market. Got some good stuff, but it got me thinking - Whats the best Veggie? And what better place to ask then a Gaming forum!

You can, of course, use whatever metrics you so desire. And feel free to interject if I forgot something, or tell me what you really think in the comments! There's only 8 poll options, so I'm just including the most common/best.

Also, please, tell us how you like your favorite made. Include a recipe if you can!

I'll open up with the obvious, elitist choice.

The thinner the better! And luckily, I don't have the gene that makes your excretions smell when you eat it!

Simple to make. Trim the bottoms of the hard bits, throw in a pan with butter, salt, and freshly ground black pepper (Medium coarse), saute until soft.

Beans are a vegetable?

Anyway, that is a hard one to answer.
Love asparagus, bell peppers, carrots, broccoli, spinach, potatoes...

I guess I'll have to go with potatoes because they are delicious, and you can make them into a bunch of delicious things like fries and chips, or mashed, or scalloped.

Pretty much cauiliflower for me! I just like the taste and texture of it (I tend to view broccoli similar in terms of apperance but they are abit harder to chew).

Granted I also loved potatoes and I also like aswell.

For pure versatility, it might have to be the humble onion or the potato or something like that.

But for sheer delicious treatiness, I'm happy to support asparagus. Ooh! Or samphire [http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/glossary/samphire].

Potatoes definitely. They are so versatile, and I honestly can't enjoy most meats without a side of potatoes. Mashed have to be my favorite though, with simple baked + sour cream in second.

Though since potatoes is the obvious answer, I have to give my second in a tie to both Broccoli and Cauliflower.
Both go GREAT with cheese, and cauliflower is really easy on the stomach.
Broccoli also goes great with a load of other things including pastas/noodles. As long as they just didn't boil them and throw them on a plate, they're usually good.

I have yet to taste a raw vegetable that didn't taste worse than plain old lawn grass. Cooked veggies tend to be even more disgusting.

The closest thing to an exception is potatoes, which I still only like in prepared forms like fries or hash browns.

Oh, and celery, which tastes alright but is nearly useless to me.

It's not like I'm not open to trying new and different greens, but every one so far has been unbearable. Even tomatoes, fruit that moonlights as a vegetable, tastes like wet blech in concentrated form.

Mother fucking Tomatoes that's what (though it being vegetable is a bit technical), with Cherry tomatoes being the favourite with the added bonus of being an Israeli invention.

Pizza, Pasta, Salad, on a toast, with fries, there's very few food dishes that can't be improved with it.
Tomatoes are a fruit, not a vegetable...

OT: The King of Vegetables though? Isn't that this guy?

How old are you?

Not trying to put you on blast or anything. It's just that that crap my parents told me was true - Your taste buds do change to be more accepting of vegetables as you grow older. Hell, I didn't grow a taste for asparagus, onions, or bell peppers until I was past 25.

Seems to me since tomatoes are the seed bearing structures of a flowering plant that it is indeed a fruit. I do love tomatoes though. Forced to choose I must admit potato products would edge them out.

That is so strange to me. What about sauteed mushrooms and onions? What about roasted peppers? What about steamed broccoli? Or even a simple garden salad with light dressing? I love that stuff.

Well since tomatoes are actually a fruit... bell peppers.
Those are fruit as well.

Everything our parents taught us about food (Besides taste) was a lie.

I Like that there is real love for the potato
And it shames my family roots to say that i have to vote for the zucchini, with the vamp veggie pulling up second and bok choy pulling up third.
Starchy shit like potato is isn't as good or good tasting

Zucchini is technically a fruit as well.

It's crazy that we rage over Pluto's status, but we let biologist get away with this shit.

In terms of sheer versatility you can't beat the potato or the onion. Carrots are good too, easily edible either raw or cooked.

Let's take a look, shall we? Eight options. One is "other", one is "no vote", two are categories, not plants; one of those categories has listed in it a vegetable that shares a plant with two of the remaining four options, and one is "potatoes", which aren't even vegetables. Geez, AccursedTheory; do you live in a land devoid of carrots, onions, radishes, leeks and parsnips, or are you just a shill for Big Asparagus? Either way, if these are our standards, I'm going to say the king of vegetables is... bacon.
