People we are on the precipice. we are offically running out of off-topic discussions that involve the wide community.
Im not just talking about these forums im talking about nearly every forum on the internet some small communities are doing fine but eventually they too will succcumb to the forum effect a effect that will have topics like "what colour is your dog?" and so on until eventually every forum will be clogged with no other option but to bump threads even then thats just slowing the ineveidtable eventually all off-topic threads and forums will need to be erased.
with all new off-topic threads and forums the resulting non-gamers that use forums as a way to talk to people or express ideas will move onto the gaming threads commenting and agreeing with everything that has been said this will inevitably spark a flame war between two people arguing over a game they havent played or heard of until they read the thread this flame war i believe will slowly spread to every forum on the internet as admins and moderators having to ban whole forums eventually there will be no more forum communities except for admins and moderators left.
If we do not cut down on our off-topic discussions the very face of the internet itself will be changed by 2015 do you realy want to leave your children an internet where when they open a forum it comes up with a "were sorry but these forums have been shut down we like to thank you for visting".
if we want to cut down on our new off-topic discussions let the new guy have his little zombie, ninja , dog, cat ,etc. thread maybe one day theyll think of something that will knock our socks off and will have a forum of its own.

Thank you for reading.

Hnmmm...conversations usually come around in full circle. It's not only in internet forums but with your friends at a random coffe shop. Sooner or later people will run out of crap to talk.

Did you not watch Seinfeld? Come on...

Eh. The Escapist has a nice community, and even if they Forums die out, it should still have news.

Fuck newspapers, I get my news on the Escapist!

Well if it hasn't happened yet, it'll happen soon enough and when it does happen I wouldn't care.

On second thoughts, there is too much news happening each day for people to comment on. Twilight, Zombies, Uwe Boll..the plagues keep coming and so people will comment on them till they can't. If the news stops then the Off-topic might show signs of decay..so here's hoping that the news never ends.

So I should stop having fun, because it will make things less fun for others possibley in the future.

like this

As long as I'm entertained, nothing else matters.
You also seem to have forgotten that new members haven't commented on threads like "favorite suxxor videogame" so they make repeat threads.

I'm sure will be fine till Swine Flu kills us
Its a never ending cycle

Until 2012 that is

I think you should take a couple of asprin and lie down...

there are always new games

there is always news

random shit will always happen to people

there will always be repeat threads

I don't see any danger of this or any other forum based community running out of stuff to say.

The thread title reminded me of Rocky & Bullwinkle. But anyways, just because we talk about random stuff now doesn't mean our kids will be having precisely the same conversation when they grow up, even if it concerns the same topic.
