OK, so this isn't an original idea, but I can't remember where I first heard it. Some comic strip or movie or something?.. But basically, (just run with me here, yeah?).. *everyone* in the *world* can be pigeonholed into one of six archetypes, based on the characters from the popular 90s American TV show "Friends". Maybe. If you wanna be, for the purpose of this bullshit poll, that is. If you're not familiar with the show (maybe because you're too young? maybe you're not too young but you have better taste than "Friends"? etc..) then by all means feel free not to comment, or to let a stream of insults fly forth, or what have you. But I assume that, generally, a fair amount of people will be familiar with the subject matter. So which Friend are you?? C'mon, it's late and it's stupid and it's fun(?).

(of course saying *why* is a good thing, but you'll still get into Friends Heaven if you don't.)

I'll start: I gotta admit, I'm prolly a Joey at heart, with a Chandler/Phoebe rising. I'm kinda witty/weird, but mainly I'm a big ol' hunka shallow goofball.

I'm a Chandler. I am always making stupid jokes at the things people say to me, most of the time they are funny.

You're not missing much. I can't stand any of them. SO as i can of course stand myself, i opt for no answer and say that its a broken concept and i'm cranky, and out of mayonaise. Good night.

I honestly don't fit into ANY of the stereotypes in Friends.

Seriously, find a way to fit a Japanese/English bilingual gaming nerd with a passion for circus skills, a family curse, Asperger Syndrome and a private education into one of the 'Friends' stereotypes, and then we'll talk.

You should offer a better explanation of what each 'character' is supposed to represent. I've seen the show, but I'm not sure how I'd categorize myself based on the characters. What traits is Ross supposed to have that Joey doesn't, according to this theory?

I'm definitely a Joey. Right up until it comes to the ladies. If I ould get a girl in the sack by simply saying "How you doing?" then I'd rule the world by now and have a massive harem of women ready to do my every bidding. And that sadly isn't true. But otherwise, I'm a Joey through and through :D.

I'd like to add to the theory that the pidgeonholing is based in relation to your own Friends. For instance, I'm a Ross most of the time but compared to a buddy of mine I'm a Chandler. It's all relative you see!

People don't see themselves as necessarily specifically any particular one of them, often it's a cross between a couple of them. And you're taking some of the attributes a little literally, but that's probably the Aspergers talking. But for the record you're Chandler/Phoebe, which is an unusual mix.

Oh and I'm Ross/Chandler.

OK, I'm not actually a huge fan of the show (that would be my wife), so this might not be 100% spot-on, but..

Ross is nebbishy, nerdy, failure-at-love over and over again. Pathetic fretting "everyman".. always the butt of the joke.

Joey is a confident dumbass, womanizing, but kinda sweet at heart. Likes simple pleasures.

Chandler is the witty jokey self-deprecating sidekick. Kinda like Xander(buffy) /Alistair(dragon age). Maybe?

Monica is a professional, clean, hard-working chick who wants the best out of life.

Rachel is a romantic girly-girl..

Phoebe is the oddball musician/bohemian wild-at-heart crazy cat lady.

Uh, I'm sure someone else could sum it up better than that. But there's the basic tropes, at least the way I see them at this point in time.

As if people could trully be put in a few arbitrary, cliche categories.

Never heard of the show.
