Whatever generation you've come from, you'll think differently about what the aesthetic of future technology will be like? Every decade has it's own generation and each generation sees a different look for it's inventions and innovations. Being a gamer I play on a wide range of consoles and I play from a large selection of games varying between many different genres and styles of play. Whenever you think of the next generation of consoles you think of it's games and what the graphics will look like on this new machine, however do you think about the aesthetic of the console itself? Do you think about it at all, the XBox 360 for example from my perspective has had three incarnations the original white, the black Elite, and the new Kinect.

Changing little between one and two it can almost be said that a change never even took place all though this new Xbox the most recent in Microsoft's line of trying to sell you the same basic thing once again. Has changed drastically keeping the same basic design but making itself thinner and more sleek, it is also black. Now I said that to ask you this, from your perspective what is the future of gaming technology's aesthetic? When the new consoles first came out white was thought to be the new color replacing black although black has made a come back along with making your console thinner and shinier where making your console more simplistic was the in thing to do. However with the release of the PS3 a while back the other competitors are following closely behind trying to make everything thinner and more sleek as well as switching to black and with the success of the Nintendo Wii everyone is trying to catch the motion sensing craze.

What is the future look of the next generation of consoles? What will we keep what will we drop and what will we adopt in making the next generation? As gamers we have the strongest opinion because it's us who are keeping the market alive, they make new games and consoles to please us it's our say that really matters. So what do we, you say?

(Other) I think that console design follows automobile design fairly closly. So, Ithink consoles will continue to have elegant curves and appear more aerodynamic. That'll be perfect for twhen I decide the whole thing has gone tits up and toss it out the freak'n window.

That's actually a really interesting point, I never thought of it. Bravo.

One thing we need is to stop making them so small! Seriously, the 360 has gotten even smaller? Even with the massive vents on the side, I can see overheating problems coming quite soon.

It's just not feasible to stuff that much hardware into a single box. The N64 was pretty big, but it didn't have that much tech in it. That means it had plenty of space to dissipate heat and could take more than a few bangs because it had a lot to cushion it. With modern consoles, mainly the PS3 and 360, the hardware is shoved in so tightly that a lot of heat gets trapped, it makes a hell of a lot of noise and it's incredibly sensitive.

What they need to do is double the size. That way, you can really get a good console with powerful tech that isn't a performance nightmare.

Holographic. They're going to be hardlight in every way and stream the games right into your brain. SO I HAVE SEEN IT, SO SHALL IT BE!

It's a joke, but can you imagine trying to find space for that in your home. Although i'm sure if you could get your hands on a bunch of crays you would find room.
