Pretty tame torture, started to forget it was even happening in the background at about minute 3 checked back in and it was past 9 minutes.
I still feel Navi gets a bad rap, without her there'd a be lot less people able to play the game without getting completely lost. Sure there's the long-term gamers who'd wind up trying everything without any hints, but far more who need the devilish firefly to point out things and remind them of what they need to be doing (once they're done exploring everything and all the sidequests).
Just imagine what Zelda 1 would've been like in a 3d game environment, those dodongos having to be killed by bombs wasn't a solution we all arrived at automatically. The first boss fight alone might have people wondering what's going on and thinking the game's broken. People rarely ever look up without something calling their attention there or a host of experiences training them in paranoia.
Now, if every time Navi wanted your attention you were forced to stop and listen rather than just swatting her back in the hat I'd be more sympathetic. Yes, there's plenty of times that happens, though most are ignorable.
