My hypothesis is
The reason he can deliver those presents is because he has elves.
they are small and hard to see and they can fit in small spaces , also many kids dont believe so thats alot less load than you'd think when you consider the elves a factor
Elves assuming they are small , wouldn't eat much so thier could be 100,000 to a 1,000,000 if Santa planed it right he could regulate the birth/death ratio . now about his immortality ; the real Santa died a long time ago and he has kids who continue his legacy.Every generation goes out and finds a mate then brings him/her back to continue the family( so Santa might be asian or black or even a female for all we know ). Remeber Santa had a wife.
Thats my two cents anyways, Im not saying he does exist but its a possibility.
Please dont tell me the origins of Christmas because i dont care about it, not that im in denial but im just stating a possibility of the modern Santa

Ps the comming down chimney part of Santa's tale was made up by rich kids with chimneys so they could put down the poor kids.
