It was one of the first genres of metal I really got into and still remains one of my favourites nearly 20 years later

I think people tend to generalise Death Metal into it just being the death vocals and a few chords. I think it's only fair that people listen to a wide variety of a genre before judging it just like I do with their music. I personally love death metal, especially bands who use orchestral elements, it just appeals to me..
And here's another example of people confusing Symphonic Metal with Death Metal...Sorry mate, not even Dimmu Borgir can use 'orchestral' elements and rise above black metal...More symphonic than that really...
Meh..Dimmu Borgir still has death elements

First i need to know what qualifies as death metal, and second: I bet there's some good music that goes under the death metal stamp. Every genre of basically every kind of entertainment has some good stuff. i mean 90% of everything is shit, but if there are 1 000 death metal bands, at least 10 of them will be bareable to listen to. Plus, it's a question of taste, and i'm waay into Coldplay and more alternative rock, and melodic music. But i've heard some death metal I actually liked (because some metal IS melodic), sooo; it's complicated...

I was really into death metal in its early days when I was a kid. I still like all the golden oldies even if I barely ever listen to them but don't really know anything about the new bands.
Its best you dont, they are pretty meh.

Needs less gruntign and screaming, then its awesome. All im asking is that the lyrics are a bit more audiable.
Read the lyrics then? Everything Audible.
I'd rather not, i mean. Say im at a club or bar and it comes on. Im not going to ask for a set of lyrics for me to read.
They play death metal in bars and clubs? what planet you from? Unless you mean a Death Metal club, in which case you would visit if you were a fan of death metal, and most likely would have read the lyrics, which are not as important as the complex music that death metal is.

Besides Death Metal isnt for bars and clubs, its an art that needs you to sit down and concentrate on its meaning and its lyrics, in which case, its not a problem to pick up a lyric book, or if you shamelessly download stuff, then a website.
I go to some awesome, yet strange clubs were they play goddamn anything!

I like death metal, it covers a bigger spectrum than some may realise. Opeth, In Flames and Cannibal Corpse can all be considered different types of death metal, and I love 'em all. But I love all metal, because it rules!

I'm a bit more Manowar, Heavy Mithril, in my choice of sounds. But Death Metal is certainly fun to blast out every now and then.

I do indeed...I like just about every subgenre of metal, actually, other than "rap metal." I've been following the progress of death metal pretty much since its inception in the wilds of Florida. I've seen a lot of good bands, a lot of bad bands, and a metric shitload of middle-of-the-road bands over the years in a dizzying array of sub-subgenres. Trying to lump them all together makes about as much sense as lumping all the bands of any other musical genre together - in other words, it doesn't.

But I can fully understand the opinions of people who don't like it, or who can only tolerate it for a limited amount of time. It's an acquired taste, I guess. Largely depends on whether or not you can embrace the concept of vocals as a percussion instrument as opposed to a melodic instrument in the compositions.

Prevail by Kataklysm is a very good album in my point of view, but the only Death Metal album I possess/'ve heard so far. So I can't really say if I like Death Metal in general or not.

Never really understood why people enjoy it but then again people wonder why I love the strong loud strain of electric synths so I can't have a go at them for it.

Considering that every single death metal si... vocal cord user I've heard sounds like a fucking idiot, I'm no fan of this genre of sound-making.
