What do you guys think? Should a company other than Bungie continue the Halo Series? Or should Halo 4....and 5....and 6....not even come into existence?

Me personally...they're just milking the Halo cash-cow.....

Ehhhh, I'd probably only buy if more stories came out about people like James(aka "The Rookie") or Noble team. The Chef is done man

It's too early to tell, but I'm actually curious. There's plenty of room in the Halo Universe for interesting stuff. If Master Chief and Cortana were involved in a wholly new adventure, far away from the Covenant or the Flood...

There's plenty of room for the formula to change and grow.

I'll pass judgment when I see more details.

Should they make more? No. Halo needs to go away so the genre can start to evolve again. It is incredibly stagnant and repetitive, Duke Nukem Forever probably being best example of how Halo has turned the non-war FPS genre into pure ctrl C > Ctrl V mass production.

Will they make more? Yes, cause the Halo fanboys will buy anything with the name on it. Making the exact same game with a different title and plot points with no other changes takes no time, no effort, and costs nearly nothing. Why give up on free money.

I will get the game ONLY if Master Cheif dies in it.

"Spartans never die" like hell they don't, have you ever played Legendary!? Well I haven't either but that's not the point.

Halo has gone on long enough, and Bungie knows that. They finished it off on a pretty good note with Reach, and the only complaint I have about that is that they're leaving it so soon. Unfortunately, Microsoft doesn't care about a beautiful universe full of potential. They just care about drunk college kids who want to be Master Chief again.
Oh, what I would give for another Halo: ODST game, one that had good characters, great music, and some kickass (and balanced) weapons.

I mostly likely won't get it as I am not much a fan of the Halo series, though I own all of the games so far. Well, truth be told, I haven't finished 1, number 2 hasn't even left it's case and I wasn't too fond of 3's single-player. Reach I quite like, same with Halo Wars. ODST was okay. Sooooo...another halo doesn't interest me at all.

I say if there are to be more Halo games. No more about the chief (After Halo 3). Personally I am a bit dissapointed. I LOVE the Halo franchise and I'll probobly get these games as well but they really are not necessary.

Yes, this precisely. I found ODST to be enjoyable in an entirely unique way. You weren't a bigshot who was single-handedly taking on the entire world. You weren't on a mission that carried the weight of humanity's future. You were just trying to survive and find out what happened to your squadmates. It was an awesome break from the normally overindulgent games where everything has to be epic and heroic.

I couldn't agree more with that assessment. Microsoft knows they've got a cash cow and they're not done taking it for all it's worth yet.

Yes I sure as hell want more Halo games, if they act on the vast amount of potential within the Halo universe.
A Covenant campaign?
The Forerunner Flood War?
The war through the eyes of an Insurrectionist? (who you never hear about in-game)
The actual Battle for Reach, and not just the same garbage with a thin coat of paint?
Maybe one of the many huge battles which you never get to participate in?
-
But noooo, we get the same old shit, again. And seeing as the campaign modes of the series have degraded ridiculously with each installment, I am only looking forward to multiplayer which even then will likely take another giant leap towards being like CoD or Battlefield, which while won't be iinherently bad will be a big step down if Halo Reach is any indication.
And who knows what bullshit they'll come up with in the singleplayer instead of acting on what they've already established yet never expanded upon. I can already see it, Master Chief is some Forerunner 'Chosen One' tasked with stopping the return of the 'Big Bad Great White Shark Menance Reaper Thingy From SPACE.' In other words a horrendously convulted and shitty plot and set up, sort of like Halo Reach's campaign but on a bigger scale.

You know at the start of Tropic Thunder where theres an advertisment for the sixth 'Scorcher' movie? A series which has been the same thing over and over again with only a minor majorly publicised change to draw in some new interest?
Halo is already exactly like that, and its only going to get much, much worse, hopefully enough that they won't be able to make any more Halo games after their new bullshit trilogy.

Fuck this shit, this somehow pisses me off in ways no game franchise ever has.
Of course, Halo 4 might be good, but anyone who's counting on it is kidding themselves.

Oh yeah, does anyone actually remember the fucking Halo rings? The key plot element which was beautifully done the first time round? Then spat on and beaten and bashed over and over again for the sake of a misplaced jigsaw-ish shooting gallery in the later installments?
Damn, after playing Halo 4 I'll probably completely forget that Halo was once actually pretty damn good.

It seems a little to pure to be handed off to another random gaming studio.

They need to kill off Master Chief and Cortana, Cortana more because her voice and lines are just so annoying, at least Master Chief knows how to shut up most of the time. It's just a shame that whenever he does open his mouth it's something horrible.

My thoughts exactly. Halo 3 had a great ending to the series and ODST and Reach had a good expansion on it without being sequels. When I heard that there are having another Halo trilogy, oh dear god... It will be just grinding the same thing by the time 6 is here, unless the story is excellent, which I slightly doubt. And this is coming from a Halo Fan. Plus it wouldn't be the same without Bungie

(Also, if Microsoft is doing a Halo 6, why not let Rare make the new Conker game [which Rare had plans for before Microsoft bought the company]?)

Personally, I am cautiously optimistic. I found that Bungie was stagnating with the IP and just did not love the games like they used to. However, I also know that 343i is a complete unknown quantity with nothing to really prove whether they have the chops to continue Halo or not.

Basically, I think that a fresh dev team could do wonders for the series and am going to hold out on judgement of Halo 4 until I play it.

Personally I've always felt that the Halo 3 ending should have been left where it was, ending on a down note.

Master Chief ends up saving the world, but in the process has sacrificed himself for the peace of humanity. He drifts off into space, no longer needed by humanity, his mission fulfilled with the new Elite-Human alliance which fosters peace for earth for at least the next generation.

I liked that Halo 3 felt like it ended on a bit-sweet note, and there really is no reason for Microsoft to bring Master Chief back other than to make bank on another Halo game and ruin the melancholy ending of Halo 3.
