Poll: Too little creativity in video games?

Coming directly off of my realism killing video games thread, I've decided to address another flaw with current games, the lack of creativity.The only games I'm excited for this year are sequels (specificly fable fallout Gears and RE5).the last good game i played that wasn't a sequel and was truly original was okami, which come out a year or two ago.When you keep remaking the same games over and over, you tire out the game franchise and sometimes,the genre completely(I'm looking at you WW2 games!).sequels are fun, to a point, but when you start only making new games with updated graphics with little or nothing else change, you should really think of trying something else.*sigh*we need more tim schaffers in the world

The games don't need to be really really creative with gameplay and such. Just make the setting and the plot original. Game's stories are so predictable and shitty these days.

there's only so much you can do and most game companies can't afford to try new concepts so they have to make games that will allow them to continue selling games, so we can't realistically expect every game to try something new.

The problem is that originality doesn't always sell. Companies would rather go with something familiar that has a higher chance of being a sure thing.

On to the topic. Games today should have a little more originality, and like Reaperman said, it's much safer to make the same game over and over. But the companies like EA can afford for a game flop. But they don't, they release Expansion after Expansion and clone after clone. Luckily, Spore seems to be DA BEST GAME EVAR hopefully.
