Personally I thought that it was a good game with solid structure a good story line and it actually had some emotional moments. What did you think?

I have yet to see any other game do cover-based shooting as well as the Gears of War series, and Gears 3 only made it better.

Overall a great game. Solid singleplayer with amazing mutiplayer, plus Horde and Beast which are overall fun.
Only issues I have with it are:

The overall story and cast are based from the novles/comics which would completely confuse those who are new to the series or never read the books.
The whole one button can solve everything.
The lack of any info of the Locust queen. (was soon explained by Epic weeks after release)
The lack of Clayton Carmine throughout most of the campaign. (must of been questing for bacon)
If you join quick matches you cant use your preferred character.
People cant join online Horde despite free space.

It doesn't quite have as many "holy shit that was awesome" moments as in Gears2. But the story is considerably more mature.

Horde and Beast mode are awesome.

On the whole, a great game to finish off a great series.

When I think about it, those are problems, though I don't recall that many hairy situations where I only got out of it with one button. Still, they don't pull away too much.

ive been unimpressed ive been playing it a bit but havent had much time owing to homework and im working my way through battlestar gallactica but all in all it feels too much like gears 2 in tone when in my opinion gears 1 had the best story, as well as the HUD in split screen horde takes up too much space

I had an okay time with the single player. I was missing the "Oh my gawd! That just happened!" moments of the other two. Horde is a good time.

I can't help but think of a Brumak getting it's head taken off by razor wire, but I guess those moments are a tad more uncommon, perhaps it's because of the storyline being a tad bit more mature.

I'm trying to keep it spoiler free but if you insist
In the end it takes basically a simple push of a button for all the Locust and all the Lambent to simply die and everything is all OK now.

I felt this was quick and mediocre everything is solved ending.

I didn't play it myself, I just watched a friend play it.

But I have to say, it has a fascinating aesthetic. It's your typical "testosterone-fueled, steroid-abusing military guys use big guns to fight gross aliens" setting, but the world is lit up beautifully, the architecture and landscapes have almost a fantasy castle-in-the-clouds feel, the monsters glow golden, and the characters' armor has a leathery steampunk look with pretty turquoise lights embedded in it.

It's like the whole thing was sprinkled with pixie dust.

Ah, I thought that you meant it gameplay wise. Personally that didn't bother me too much because you spent the whole game hunting it down, I was expecting some sort of solution to the entire problem. But maybe that's just me. Not to mention everything isn't all ok, Humanity is a seriously endangered species, farmlands and infrastructure across Sera have all been completely destroyed, and civilization officially died a year before the game started. The Locust are gone, but the world is shattered. Also Imulsion is gone too, meaning the people of Sera will have to find other sources of power. Not to mention the planet was already a crappy place to live, razorhail?

I liked it a lot and I think it was leaps and bounds ahead of GoW 2 (didn't own an X-box at time the first one came out so I can't say anything for it) the campaign was pretty fun and so is the mutiplayer. I actually enjoy PvP combat now (it was something I dreaded in GoW2 because I was so bad at it) and there have been some major improvements to horde mode as well. I also like how much brighter it is vividly I remember growing bored with GoW2 pretty fast because the visual style got so boring.

The gameplay and online is pretty good. No other game does cover-based shooting as good as the Gears of War series. In terms of plot, characters, music and basically anything that isn't gameplay, it's pretty damn weak as always.

I can't really call it bad due to its excellent gameplay, so meh it is.

Seems to be mostly good, with half of the votes going to meh and DNP. Surprised that no one has said that it's bad.

I was quite looking forward to it, played it, and think it's fairly average.

Story was fairly lame "HEY DO THIS AND THE PROBLEM IS SOLVED." It doesn't have the same hook as the previous games.

Horde is alright, Beast mode is ok too but it really lacks in lengthy gameplay. No doubt it'll be expanded through DLC.

If I'm honest the story felt rushed, there's too many questions left unanswered.

From a technical standpoint, the main thing that impressed me was the lighting. Really nicely done, the environments were nice. The soundtrack was good too.

Basically: nowhere near as good as I hoped, but still a good game.

Haven't played much of it yet, but I've had a blast whenever I have played it.

Good overall, just not addictive enough.

I enjoyed the campaign and after completing that, decide to try out the mulitplayer.. was not for me, so decided to sell it for £30 which isn't too bad as I paid £33 for it originally.

Yeah, can't say I'm crazy about the multiplayer either. Still enjoy Beast and Horde though.

Its really fun.

I just got Ben Carmine (FINALLY!)

He's my favorite Gear, practically me if I was in Gears of war.

Multiplayer is really balanced, if I screw up, I can only (usually) blame myself.
