I'm very curious to know what gamers and especially people outside the US are thinking regarding the upcoming presidential election in the United States; especially what your thoughts are about either candidate and who you think WILL win and who you think SHOULD win and why.

I think Barack Obama will win because of the weariness that the Bush campaign has caused among independent voters with regard to the Republican party and their attitude towards the environment, disaster relief as well as the so called Iraqi "War". I also think that a crowd chanting; "Drill, Baby, Drill," is just irresponsible in this day and age regarding power production.

Obama will win and I hope he does. I can't stand the Republicans although I am in a different country that is more left.

even though I am sure that this is undercover work by McCains loyal aides what the hell.

People will wake up to the fact that McCain is an old coot who is highly likely to kick the bucket during office. This will leave a HIGHLY and I mean HIGHLY!!!!! inexperienced person to fill in his position...

Obama doesn't have much experience but at least he earned his spot in the presidential race and wasn't put in to attract some of HC's voters....

ps: McCains a pillock

This is possibly the best thought out poll i have seen in some time.

Escapist, learn from this man.

Obama should, win, but will not. McCain has the grip on too many large demographics... despite being a step further into the abyss from bush... Right wing so far he tilts the fucking plane.

God damnit, the man's more war-hungry than Kubla Khan and i just glad i don't live in America to suffer through his term.

Obama would be assassinated.
McCain is a ****.
Palin should be shot.
America's fucked either way.

And might I add that there's no great difference between USA's major parties anyway?

I hope that Barack Obama will win, but... it just doesn't seem likely. I think a lot of Americans only say they'll vote for him because it's the "right" thing to do, but when they're in the voting booth their priorities will change. Depressing, but hey.

A fine poll, but you left off the quintessential other.

I think you are going to find a surprising number of people come election time who are simply fed up with both parties. We are fed up with both sides of the aisle promising and never delivering. I know a lot of people think Obama is going to "change" everything, but I honestly don't believe it. The Democrats have had control of the Legislative branch for sometime now and look what's come of it. The exact same thing we had when the Republicans were in charge.

I have said it before, but nothing is going to change in this country until we out the two party system.

The Republican's have done more this year than ever to convince me that they do not take the American public or our political processes seriously. It's a joke to them, a fun game where they can make millions if they pander and maneuver enough.

Well I don't think it's funny. Democrats may be bumbling fools sometimes, but I'd prefer that to a party that looks on me like cattle. They treat us like sheep, but every few years the sheep decide that's what they like. Hopefully not this year. I will vote for Barack.

PS- Everyone in the US, it's not too early to register to vote! I did it yesterday.

This is my point through. When Bush first was elected the Republicans held control, but we had an the Democrats take control a few years back. Notice any difference, because I sure didn't. Everything that was promised on both sides goes right out the window once they reach Washington.

The Dems don't have control. They control the house, but the senate hase 49/49 with one leftie indie and a right-wing indie. at a draw, Cheney gets to decide. Each senate seat has an election each 6 years. Also, Bush still has veto right.

That being said, in general you're still right. I think the Dems aren't the good guys, they're the lesser evil. Sometimes marginally, but I do think Obama is better than most Dems. He won't change everything he said he'd change, but at least some things.

Iraq Osama
I think you mean Iraq HUSSEIN Osama.

Obama to win please by the way. The crap of McCain getting rid of Roe Vs. Wade, as impossible as it is for him, annoys me to no end.

1. Tap malicious citizens by feeding them bullshit rumors they will spread.
2. Malicious citizens then infect people too stupid to know better with said bullshit.
3. Align with special interest groups (more organized herds of sheeple).
4. Malicious citizens, stupids, and special interest groups work in tandem, creating an exponentially bigger pile of shit.
5. Swing undecided voters with "the majority's" big pile of shit and star power of candidates.
6. Use the Chewbacca Defense and information overload on every issue, so people no longer know what the fuck is really going on or so they eventually just stop caring.
7. Fear.

...I think that about covers the whole McCain/GOP strategy.

Sad thing is, it's so damn effective.

If someone can explain to me what exactly a community organizer does, I'll think about voting for Obama.

I honestly don't know how the US election will turn out; I thought the Dems would be hands-down favourites by now given the Reps' record, but it's still a horse race despite McCain's "treat the electorate like idiots with ADD" campaign strategy.

I'm starting to think this is a lose-lose election for the US; if Obama gets in he's going to be stuck cleaning up the mess and he's going to end up taking the blame for the coming downturn, but if McCain gets in the right party eats the shit sandwich the neo-Cons have been building for the last eight years but the resulting recession will probably be deeper.

There's still hope, though, so long as I don't see Warren Buffet going long on Kuggerands, shotgun ammunition, and prepackaged food.

I think Obama will win, but I'm voting McCain.

Allow me to give my "Obama Presedency run-down"...

Obama gets elected, makes bold comments about "change" and happiness and everyone smiles and agrees because they like shiny things and bright colors.

After 6 months... Nothing has changed in Iraq or the US, but Obama claims that the war effort has "turned around" and that "We're making a difference". And everyone smiles and agrees because hes not Bush, and everyone knows that war is bad... unless a Democrat is in office.

After a year or so, people will wise up to the fact that Obama hasn't changed anything *if not made things worse* and a few people grumble about how Hilary would have been better *but not McCain, silly Republican*.

And finally, he will be voted out of office in 2008, possibly by a political coupe from within his own party *Hilary anyone?*

Just my opinion.
