I just got my first dosage of unskippable, not too long ago. I started off watching the episode with Yahtzee, (due to halo wars) and I have to ask.

Do people really find this stuff funny? They're commenting on cutscenes... That's it. How much do these guys make?

They're doing their own commentary on cutscenes, and they do a bad job of it. It's like watching a movie and someone talks during it. Is this really entertainment? Why is it so popular?

It just seems really stupid to me... Please fellow escapists, what's up with this?

I think it can be variable but it's mostly funny.

Anyway, what's wrong with that concept?

It's my other favorite show here, next to Zero Punctuation, actually. For them, it seems to vary. There are some they've done that are kinda boring, and there have been others where they actually make some pretty funny jokes. It seems to be a 50-50 chance.
I'm going to guess you got one of the boring ones, I think. Maybe.

And besides, if you want to watch a game's opening without someone talking all the way through it, there's always YouTube...

It doesn't cater to your sense of humour.
I find it funny, but because you don't, they're suddenly doing their job badly? Yeah, that makes sense to me.

I found some funny, but eventually not enough to want to carry on watching. It's a good idea, but I just found them less amusing as time went along.

Not because the quality dropped but because the novelty did, the same with Zero Punctuation where I barely manage a smile every few videos where I used to almost wet myself with laughter.

As for why you don't like it, that's called taste. You ask people which stand-up comedians they like and you will get a lot of different answers, usually based upon whether they are capable of understanding subtle humour...

Some people do find it funny, and I am one of them. You just happen to have a different sense of humor than the people that do like it I guess.

What's so terrible about it?

I know I've watched a cut scene and mocked it for all it's worth before, there's nothing wrong with the concept at all.

I have only seen one of their videos, and I personally found it to be overwhelmingly unfunny. It was like Mystery Science Theater 3000 without humor or wit, just weak attempts at jokes.

Im more curious on who acually enjoys game dogs.
Its like a better animated, but less funny version of Code Monkeys.
And I mean way less funny.

I love Unskippable, and I'm not the only one. It's like MST3K, only with bad cutscenes instead of a bad movie. I'm not going to say it's all perfect, they have lines that don't do it for me every now and again, but for the most part I find Unskippable to be a really enjoyable experience.

The show I think is stupid is I Hit it With My Axe. I mean, the one thing I always say that I like about the Escapist is that, on the whole, it's a pretty mature community. But a show about porn stars playing D&D seems like pandering to the lowest common denominator.

But, I suppose we're all entitled to our opinions.

I just got my first dosage of some guy's opinion, not too long ago. I started off listening to him talk about something involving an online webseries and I have to ask.

Does he think his opinion is the only one with merit? It's a webseries that is popular....that's it. How much does he expect everyone to think like him?

He's put up his own commentary long after commenting on liking the show is relevant, and he does a bad job of it. It's like reading about some guy who hates thing I don't. Is this really his opinion? Why should we care, or a thread be made about it?

It just seems really stupid to me... Please fellow escapists, what's up with this?

The point is that the show is popular because people like it.
I find the guys funny, and I've watched all the episodes I can.
Evidently other people do as well.

Did this need a thread?

Some people can appreciate the Mystery Science Theater 3000 kind of comedy, some can't. That's basically what it comes down to. If you don't like it, there is really no way to explain it. I would however ask you if you've never sat with a fried or two and just bashed a movie the whole way through. It's kind of like that. People just sitting, and saying the first thing that comes to mind when they watch movies.

Ok so I don't share the same sense of humor. I just wanted to see why you guys liked it so much.

I don't have to watch it (I'm not really gonna) but I'm glad I got you fellow escapists to show me your side without calling me a troll...

Thanks!

I always thought that Unskippable had a unique charm about it and the MGS ones are very funny, though I really only watch the older ones or the games I have or will play in the near future!

But all in all I find them very funny, not as funny as Loding Ready Run but funny none the less!

(It's also funny that I have started going unskippable on every cutscene I have watched since I stared watching them A YEAR AGO!)
