So this holiday... I am not a big fan. I can't really thing of any reason to like. It is completely commercialized, I doubt anyone is doing anything to put the Saint in St. Valentine's. It is completely sexist, in both advertising and the expectations. And, I am not afraid to admit, I am alone. So when I see other people being all lovely-cuddly, I kinda want to smack something.

But, enough about me. I am curious, what are all you fellow Escapists upto on this overly pink and heart shaped holiday?

Date with significant other.

I'm assuming playing Co-Op "Aliens: Colonial Marines" counts, since we're both big fans of the Alien films. But no, we don't generally treat Valentine's Day as anything other than a normal day.

I have no idea.

If it's like all other Valentine's Days, it will come and go subtly.

Doing what I would normally do on a Thursday, so nothing special.

Just treating it like a normal day really.

I'm spending the entire day at my gf's place because her family is out of town. Not complaining. She's a gamer too so we'll probably play a few games. And also video games.

Go out to dinner with my girlfriend and playing video games when we get back. Pretty normal day really.

Valentine's Day isn't a thing here, so the day has never had any significance. I'll be spending it at home as usual, unless something else comes up.

I wouldn't have even remembered about it if it wasn't being brought up every now and then.

I'm going to stay in because I want to. I am not fond of holidays and the generalised message that you MUST have fun and enjoy yourself. I'll have fun if I want to.

Only interesting thing that'll be happening is that I'll be prepping for a University Interview the day after.
Otherwise it'll just be a normal day.

Going out with my boyfriend to a restaurant he's wanted to try for ages. I even bought a new dress!

Though we've been together for a few years, this is really the first time we've ever done anything for Valentines, so I'm pretty excited. Besides, I enjoy going out and any excuse for new clothes is good. Even if I do have to admit the only reason I bought a new dress is because I couldn't decide on one of my existing dresses to wear. Stop judging me, it's a completely normal reaction.

I need help.

Well I kidnapped a girl I had a crush on just before Christmas, I think the Stockholm Syndrome is just about kicking in. So you never know, could be quite nice this year.

Unless she succeeds in escaping, then it'll be another Valentines Day alone. Which to be fair is fine by me because I'm a man and I don't put too much importance in the day.

I've been trying to get someone, anyone, to come along to a gig/concert with me. So far no luck... so either I'll go alone or stay home alone...

Probably get on with the mountain of University work that I have to get through by the end of February.

I might treat myself to a film in the evening though, maybe even a nice wank. Romantic.

I have already expressed to my girlfriend that I have no desire to ever celebrate any gift-giving holiday.
I'd much rather do something nice when I feel like it, then when some event dictates that I should.

Lucky for me, I am dating one of the few reasonable human beings on this planet. No celebration required :)

I respect your choice and all, I'm just curious: What if she wants to celebrate?
