I might not have been the only one to notice this. Look back at the times when the economy was bad. Look at times when the economy was good. Look at the games that came out at those respective times. During the bad times the good games seem to come out. In this recession we had many games like CODMW2, Just cause 2, Mass effect 2. The list goes on. Looking back on when the economy was good I feel like there was less good games coming out. We still have Star craft 2 to look forward to. Now thinking back to 07/08 I went back to playing games like warcraft 3. LOZ:OOT. Many others too. Does anyone else notice that when the economy is bad lots of good games come out?

You're trying to make a point with this example?

Might wanna.. try something else.

This is just a conspiracy theory. It has nothing to do with the economy.

I'd actually make the argument that there are less good video games when the economy is bad.

When the economy is bad, nobody wants to risk it with original IP's. They just send out sequels and milk franchises.

So stop preparing to blow Wall Street up in smokes.

Some good games come out when the economy is poor, but I would say that the majority of good games come out when the economy is good. I don't think there is a correlation between the two, it's just that the economy is good more often than it is bad.

I can't think of a favorite game, but most of my favorites came out when the economy was doing just fine.

Well, there's the old theory that creativity comes from adversity.

My favourite game, The Longest Journey, came out in 2000. It was made by Funcom, who are Norwegian. I have no idea how the Norwegian or world economies were doing at that time though. I know the American market was in a slump, and that the Irish one was doing well, but other than that, nothing.
I'm pretty sure Norway, also known as Europe's oil field, did marginally well with their economy at that point.

Norway has, for a long time I might add, a huge surplus of oil.
We did not feel any real effects of the current economic crisis, and certainly not in 2000.

I used Modern Warfare 2 as an example because it is a popular game. I personally cannot say i like it however there have been a good chunk of other good games that have come out.

Fallout 3 came out 2 months after the Financial Crisis kicked off.

But... I don't think it got hit really hard by that. I certainly hadn't yet.

60 % of my ten favourite games came out in 2007, and that's before the crisis. So Good economy?

This seems like paranoid nonsense. However i believe that games come out regardless of the economic situation games come out it's the ideas that go into the game is what makes them good or bad. Lack of money doesn't make or break a creative mind.
