Just a word o' warning - vs threads aren't looked on too kindly here, neither are one word posts.

'Tis all in the guidelines [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.116827]

But, nevertheless, welcome to the Escapist!

What makes this worse is the fact that the OP only says "CHOOSE", so you know this isnt a sort of comparison thread, just an all out war between the two games.

This.
Also, add some discussion. Maybe voice your opinion in your opening post. You know, to not look stupid.

OT: I can't choose considering that one series has only 1 game released and the other has 3.

It's a close to impossible choice, but I tend to lean towards Warcraft because I prefer medieval style games and have played more Warcraft than Starcraft (which is logical since there's only 1 SC game as of yet). Starcraft definitely has the better balance (even though Warcraft's balance still beats every other RTS out there), but Warcraft definitely has the better storyline.

Starcraft boordwar?????

on the topic. Without wc3 there would be no dota or league of legends. So id pick wc3 However they are both blizzard games and totally awesome in their own respects. Starcraft for its innovative units and gameplay. Wc3 for their hero system and that retarded blademaster <3

Brood War was just an expansion, not a second game. All it did was add some new features.

I like the hero system in WC.. as my friend pointed out, anything other than 1v1s were a tad unbalanced in SC.. if you attack a guy you may win, but then your army is crippled and player 3 waltzes in a picks up the victory..

however, although "creeping" was a good idea for WC, it did annoy me a bit

overall id go for SC.. i just think its more fun

The expansion came on a second cd, a whole 3 new campains and two new units pr.Race

Considering the timeline and the quality this expansion offered compared with other games such as the madden series or championship manager, id say broodwar is a second game rather than the expansion you want it to be. Im not expecting you to agree but calling it a mere expansion is like calling Section 8 an addon to Unreal turnament.

So, Frozen Throne was also a second game? By that logic any expansion pack ever is a second game. And that's untrue. It simply adds a little more to the game, hence the term expansion pack.

My friends and I still do some SC:BR skirmishing. Not true of WC. Pro level play leans towards SC:BR, as well, if that means anything to you. And mind, this is of an eleven-year-old game. That is how good it is.

SC2 is (currently) due 2010q1, which will, if all goes well, address any reservation I could have on this judgment. Although I think I will miss the 2D art. It has charm. Hell, with different unit lineups we could conceivably end up playing some SC:BR alongside SC2.

I think that it was a second game, of course the only change it made in gameplay was a few new heroes and such, but it continued the story, and plus it came with its own CD and I think that it should be known more as a sequel, than an expansion pack.
