I was just going back over the entire Devil may cry series and i think that Devil may cry 4 was a big mistake. Putting someone from out of the blue and making him the main devil hunter with just a devil hand which his girlfriend doesn't even know about. Now if you take Dante (which was only in for 6 missions) But Dante Got all of the good weapons and he did what he does best. Slaying demons. Now i personally Agree with Zero Punctuation about how it was a cry for help but they may need to make Devil may cry 5 for the upcoming movie that will be released in 2010, but Why put a character that no one knew about and just threw him into a very good series just so screw the series up?

No. Not in the least.

The game is fun, and Nero's fine compared to Raiden (though frankly, I don't have much of a problem with Raiden either).

I am new to the DMC series, so I liked not being the only new person in the game, and I thought the whole deamon hand thing was quite well done, I liked the gameplay with it.

but even I can see that Dante is 3 times as awesome as Nero.

It was fun, I liked it. Thats all to say. I only ever played DMC4 so I would not know how it is compared to the other games.

The only major problem I had was the switch from Dante back to Nero towards the closing chapters of the game was too soon for me. I was still working out the finer kinks of Dante's abilities (his guard stance for instance) and then they go and throw me right back into Nero.

I felt it was rather jarring personally, though not many other people I've talked to had the same issue so perhaps it was just me.

But for what it was, I enjoyed DMC4. Nero added a new change to the gameplay mechanics with his motorbike sword and grabby hand and I thought it was pretty cool. The boss battles were enjoyable as well. The Lucifer cutscene [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxqkbCFA0no] was awesome.

I agree. After how incredible the first DMC was, DMC 2 was a disappointment, and to be honest none of the sequels have lived up to the original.

I'd say the prequel certainly did, though.

Yes. DMC 3 was great, and it is my favorite of the series. I liked 4, but I thought that it could have been better and the little things I didn't like really brought it down for me.

I've only played the fourth one and I think that Dante is most badass. Though Nero's demon arm is badass... and i find easier to play Nero than Dante.

DMC4 was my first time playing the series and I loved it. I actually liked Nero better than Dante, but I didn't have the loyalty to Dante that a lot of veterans to the series probably had. I thought the game was great and hope to see more of them made.

Nero was lame. He was a whiny emo brat. Dante is a shit talking bad ass. I did not even finish the game. DMC 1 and 3 were way better. I wish that they would re-make the first DMC for the PS3 and the 360. The next DMC game had better be only Dante or I will be pissed.

And for the record, I HATED Raiden to in MGS2. He is pretty bad ass in MGS4 but he is still no Solid Snake.

At what point in the game was Nero emo or whiny? He is pretty much exactly the same as Dante. They're both cocky and like to talk shit.

I loved the 4th one, maybe because it was my first Devil May Cry and I though (And still think) that the Combat was amazing.

The only problem I have is that Dante has to many weapons for me to handle at once but I quess some will like it.

I much prefer Nero to Dante... Dante is just annoying.

All they need to do in the next one is kill Nero's love interest to make him psychotically angry, this way he wont be the "love story" guy.

yeah I agree that DMC 1,3 and 4 were great, but DMC2 was a bit of a disappointment, DMC 4 was a good game but I do prefer DMC 3 and 1. I suppose Nero wasn't too bad as a character. If they could make some adjustments to DMC4 I think it would be a good idea to give you a choice to play as Nero or Dante, maybe to separate story lines and maybe let you play as Virgil as well

Seriously though, I thought Nero was a great idea. After Devil May Cry 3, where on earth could they have possible taken Dante? There is still no real way they could have topped #3 and I'm pretty damn sure they knew it too.
Bringing in Nero was a solid choice because it brought in new gameplay mechanics and a good change of pace while at the same time keeping everything pretty familiar. Of the series DMC 3 is still my favorite, but I definitely enjoy #4 quite a bit. Damn shame the pc port of #3 was so bloody awful.

Huh? Movie in 2010? I think you've been listening to too many schoolyard myths man. DMC4 was a step down, but it wasn't a complete let down. It just need more levels and enemies. The core mechanics of Dante were brought over nicely from DMC3 and Nero is fun to play as, even if his characterization sucks.

Personally, I'm looking to Bayonetta to take over the mantle of action games, since Capcom hasn't mentioned anything about a new DMC yet.

Damn straight
Also I enjoyed playing as Nero, it was fun and a bit easier to whip up combos and kill bosses.
Plus the boss finishing moves were brutal and also pretty darn hilarious.
