I've been listening to a few CD's from my music collection over the past week and I've began to think about what solos I liked the most. I was listening to mostly classic rock (Boston, The Doors, The Who etc) and I think I'm stuck between Guitar and Keyboard solos. I'm just curious to see what other people think about this and also to see if there are any new bands I could get into. You could put your favourite solos from the songs you know, for example mine are :
Guitar - Something(The Beatles) This was a hard choice for me, seeing as there are so many guitar solos out there, but i feel that this is my favourite just because of how beautiful it sounds and maybe because its played by my favourite beatle.
Keyboard - Riders On The Storm(The Doors) The solo in this just gives me chills. I can't explain how I feel when I hear it but to me it is just without equal comapred to all the other keyboard/piano solos i have heard
Drum - Painkiller(Judas Priest) Short and sweet but awesome as hell, not much to say except that it gets me in the right mindset for the rest of the song
Bass - My Generation(The Who) I've not heard many bass solos but this one is my favourite especially when its done live where the bass sounds better like on The Smother Brothers performance.
Other - Urgent(Foreigner) The saxophone solo sounds like the player(saxophonist?) is putting his soul into it and it could have not been done better.
I don't mean this as in that solos can be rated based purley on the instrument being used, but in general what solos do you enjoy the most.
