Lets say you're playing an MMORPG (or some similar type of game, such as D&D) with a group of friends. You are making your character, and have to choose what class to make them. what class would you choose?

I'd probably choose figher, because I already have a friend who likes to play healer, and I've also never played an MMO before, so keeping it simple would be in my best interests.

I always choose the ranger. I am more of a ranged combat kind of person because it is the most logical way to engage the enemy in reality.

If, as the result of some sort of great cosmic event, I did decide to play an MMORPG, I'd probably be a Paladin; able to fight and heal.

I'm more the D&D close combat ranger. Fast, nimble, and slashes away at you quickly.

Red mage. I'm mostly support, so I use healing magic and assault magic from a distance. I'm a pussy, so I don't fight up close and personal.

Given a choice between mage and healer, I'd 2 out of 3 times choose healer.

In TF2 I'm Engie all the way.

So it depends.

Other normally Rogue/Thief/Ninja or whatever other class available that deals a lot of damage from up close and is agile (see also barbarian in DDO)

now, you say this like you would never in the world play an mmorpg, and yet you know the basic role of a paladin, something i didn't even know. lol oh shame

i choose the mage, then the thief (assassinating ftw), and then the Bardbarian (that would be a horribly awesome multiclass) b/c barbarians get berserk, and insanity is fun. i'll play healer ONLY if nobody else will do it, or if there is none to be found in the game.

I run the tank classes. The guys that run forward and take the damage while doing very little in return. Pallys with self regens, Warriors with super health items, thieves with perfect dodge, anything to keep the baddies attention so the rest of the party can kill it.

I usually end up playing something relatively simple, but take a sort of leadership role amongst friends, or play something relatively complicated and rip the shit out of everyone.

Not all paladins are in MMOs.

It varies. I'm usually either the "mage" or the "healer," as I like control and damage, but I'm also a big fan of support and protecting my people.

By "people," I mean "my party" in this case.

D&D: Paladins are secondary healers.

I am a healer, a class which may paint me as being a generous human being, don't be fooled though, I only play healer because I don't trust anyone else to.

I took a D&D personality test at one point and ended up with the ranger, it fit me fairly well but i still prefer the rogue, or hell though not many games have it, the illusionist (GW does, the Mesmer). Mind games are fun :) and stealth is just one of the ways to play them.
