Hullo, I'm The Riddler and recently I saw a speed run of LoZ:WW. I actually thought of it as an amazing thing; how fast they did it with all the tricks and junk. It takes an enormous amount of speed, memorization and skill to pull it off. What do you think of them? Do they ruin the game? Do you think that they find epic cheats? (Like the sailing trick) Tell me!

They don't really ruin the game but they can either show amazing skill, or gamebreaking exploits which can still be fun to watch, like the glitch that lets you beat Final Fantasy in about 5 minutes.

Edit: I found the video. If you want to figure out what's going on this link [http://www.destructoid.com/this-is-how-you-beat-final-fantasy-legend-in-two-minutes-138937.phtml] helps.

They're fun to watch but I feel sorry for the people who put that much time and effort into doing it. I mean, kudos and all but really... seems like a sad, lonely life.

Its cool on games like super mario when the people are jumping around like ninjas.

But pretty lame for shooter games and stuff.

Not really my sort of thing, but I got nothing against people doing it.

Also, welcome to the Escapist, report to TheNamlessGuy or OnyxOblivion for your speech on how to avoid the basement.

For normal games i say the people do have to much time on their hands...now for Super Mario Rom Hack's that's a little something

I think they are cool. i can beat the average gamer in games i like but im not as good as top level speed runners.

As the guy that holds the record for Silent Hill 1 (32 min) said

"I'm quiting speed running, it is very time consuming"

I see no point to them, honestly.
There's no draw in a speed run for me.
And whatever anyone else finds out through a speed run (whether a glitch or a cheat or a shortcut) has no effect on how I'll play the game.
I know of how people can cheat/break/peed through the story in certain games. Doesn't mean it really matters to how I will play. xD

I think it's just another way to play a game.

EDIT: I can't vote. There's no indifferent option. D;

I only would attempt a speed run once I have fully completed a game.

And by fully completed, I mean every single objective done, every side quest finished, every little thing you can pick up picked up, all achievements acheived, everything done.

But, usually, by that point, I will start playing a different game.

they are fun to watch but, im too much of a collector to do them.

Now i might do a Metroid Prime Speed Run one of these days.

Only because i just naturally find enough stuff during the game to not haft to treasure hunt near the end.
I had several of the Artifacts before i was even told about them in.
