Bioshock 1 is probably one of, if not the, best games of this generation. Don't bother with 2 though...

I would go with Batman and Spec Ops The Line, both are excellent games and well worth your time.

Bioshock 1 or Batman. And I don't know which one to recommend more. Bioshock is a classic and it's one of the most immersive games I've played. It's the only game that I spent 12 hours straight playing without noticing the time. It was weird. On the other hand playing Batman made me feel so awesome. It's fuckin' Batman, man.

I picked Bastion because it's the cheapest on the list, to my knowledge. Therefore, any possible disappointment would be minimal. Bioshock is well spoken of by many for its interesting setting and story, while The Witcher 2 has rather more unforgiving combat.

My order of recommendations:

The Witcher 2 (not critical to play The Witcher but it's still worth checking out first)
Arkham City
Bioshock 1
Bastion
everything else

Bastion . Cheap , and lasts about 5 -7 hours. So you can probably beat it in an afternoon.

I say Bioshock because that's the only one on that list that I've actually played.

Batman if you feel like a highly disturbing plunge into the depths of madness, Spec Ops if you want a simple lighthearted romp through a charming city. Or was it the other way around? I think that's how it went.
But seriously, go play Spec Ops. It's good. Really good.

I voted for Spec Ops: The Line because it made me feel like garbage. In a good way. Also because I wasn't a fan of Batman: Arkham Asylum, and I haven't played the rest.

I think he already owns all these games so cost is no longer an issue... I gather that this is a backlog that needs to be run through.

My vote was Spec Opps... Just because of the perspective it gives you, I mean a shooter that takes time out of its day to remind you that killing other people is BAD????? How revolutionary.

Didn't like Arkham City as much as Arkham Asylum. I voted for Bastion, it's short, and an incredible game for the cost. Of course that's without having any idea what you like, depending on your taste it could be anywhere between meh and amazing

Gonna have to go with Bioshock. (Not the second one though. That one was blegh.)

I actually just started replaying Bioshock a while ago. I forgot how creepy and intense the atmosphere was. The first few levels would make anyone want to shit their pants.
