Edit: IF YOU CHOOSE OTHER, PLEASE POST WHAT YOU LIKE IN THE THREAD.

So, I've decided I'm going to upload YouTube videos - but I'm not sure what videos are the most popular. Minecraft get's a lot of views, but EVERYONE is doing a Minecraft Lets play - and lets face it the Yogscast pretty much own Minecraft. Again, Call of Duty is pretty much owned by people like WoodysGamertag and Whiteboy7thst etc, and has a terrible community - plus I don't really like Call of Duty anymore anyway.

Now, I have heard that World of Warcraft is pretty much dead and people hardly watch YouTube videos of it - but I'm not entirely sure of this - never really played WoW...I've played the demo and stuff but paying monthly is not something I'm interested in.

Again, I don't think Skyrim videos will have a very long lifetime, considering there's tons of new games coming out and it might not have staying power.

I was thinking of just playing games, seeing if I get good footage and uploading it to YouTube - but there really needs to be some "bread and butter" videos that are recurring on the channel.

By the way, the Yogscast is really my favourite channel on YouTube so I don't really wan't to do Minecraft - unless there is some original way to do a Lets Play.

Ah - so you like sort of short, funny and comedic videos. What about funny commentary?

Comedy Machinima's. Examples being "Sanity not Included" and this guy who does comedy like stunts in GTAIV. I've forgotten his name entirely... XD

I'm fine with commentary, too (Halo Reach Fails of the Weak, by Rooster Teeth, is basically a similar series to Gamefails but with 10 fails per episode and commentary). But I mostly use youtube for the weird stuff, like most of the Gmod animations (especially by RubberFruit, though I must warn you that his videos are like an acid trip). Let's Plays don't really interest me that much.

If a Let's Play has really funny commentary, will you watch it? (if you've ever watched Crit1cal you know what I mean). His videos are just the funniest thing on YouTube.

I usually only watch 2 video game related things on youtube (mainly because I'd rather play them than watch):
The league of legends champion spotlights and the "this is why we hate X champion" videos

Theoretically I might, but I also might just never get round to it. I'm a terrible procrastinator - just ask my homework.

I still haven't gotten round to watching the Yogscast, despite knowing how funny it can be.

It's probably the funniest and best channel on YouTube in my opinion. I aspire to make my videos as good as theirs, I haven't really gotten around to posting anything. Also, I think it's quite annoying how pretty much everyone makes videos nowadays. Back in the days when people made Halo 3 Machinimas - I thought of buying a Dazzle to make some myself, never got around to it though. Kind of annoying how everyone is getting into it now.

I enjoy any walkthrough video, so long as the player isn't talking (I call them talkthroughs).
Ah, but surely that's more helpful. I generally hate walkthrough's that don't have commentary in them, commentary makes them more interesting IMO.

The game the video is showing isn't as important to me as the person doing it. I'll usually watch videos from AchievementHunter, Jesse Cox, TotalBiscuit, Yogscast and a good bit others simply cause their fun to listen to.

In general, I think it's better to listen to channels like the Yogscast because they have two great personalities on them. I don't really have any friends that are anywhere near as awesome as Simon/Lewis to actually have a lets play partner - so I'm probably going to have to do it solo.

Ah, I can see where we've gotten confused here. I should have mentioned that I don't watch walkthrough videos because I need help with games. I only watch walkthroughs of old games, and I only really watch them when I feel like having something on in the background while I'm doing something else.

Mostly G-mod videos (I must be subscribed to 2 dozen G-modders), but I also watch the Yogscast when one of their videos strikes my interest.

When a new game comes out that Im unsure about I often go to youtube and look for gameplay videos or even lets plays of the game so I can see the gameplay and make an informed opinion about whether or not I should buy that game.

With wide open games like Minecraft I sometimes jump from video to video just to see the interesting things people have made. Other times I like to watch informative videos, for example because of youtube I understand how redstone works and probably still wouldnt if I hadnt watched some videos. Same goes for my Daedric armor in Skyrim, if I hadnt watched a video telling me where to get the hearts I probably would be wearing Dragonplate armor and have ebony weapons. Champion guides for league of legends are something else I tend to watch because I like to see how others build the champions I enjoy playing and more importantly why

That's great to know, thanks!!! I might make some First Impressions videos or something. I might make like a top 20 tips video on Skyrim. Is there any particular things that interest you in Miencraft? Because regular Lets Plays are quite boring to me - except when its the Yogscast.

I don't watch yogcast, totalbiscuit or any of those other ones. They just irritate me for some reason.

G-mod videos like Dasboschitt are fucking hilarious though.

A few other ones:

Dopelives (an awesome swedish guy who plays video games in a fun way and has the most infectious laugh)

Socialdissonance (Mainly for the Monster Hunter Podcast and tutorial videos)

Retsupurae (Mystery Science Theatre 3000 for terrible Let's Plays)

Check these guys out if you haven't already.

Funny LP's and gaming vids in general.

Tobuscus (or more specifically Tobygames) still has one of the best gaming channels on the internet

His LP of Amnesia is amazing and his LP of Fallout NV was somehow really entertaining (i usually can't stand Open World games being LP'd) but when he headshots Sunny Smiles' dog by accident, cheerily walks around the desert at lvl 1 being followed by a Giant Radscorpion and completely destroys the character of Boone. You know the rest of the game is gonna be just as awesome.
