So I'm currently trying to stay awake for as long as possible for the sole purpose of that I can and that I'm on my Summer break which has lead me to ask this question to my fellow Escapists.

What is the longest time you have stayed awake?

EDIT: Also try to post in what you did to stay awake for so long, or so little.

About 5 days, give and take a couple of hours. Meth is a hell of a drug.

Longest was about 36 hours seeing as how we spent the day before trying to beat pokemon blue and red when they had just come out. Also lots of pixie stix.

66 hours. Needed to stay awake to finish a lot of projects, homeworks, tests, etc near the end of my first semester at Uni. I got them all done, pretty well too. I then proceeded to sleep for an entire day.

Staying up so long, you go through a cycle of natural highs and lows. It's actually not that hard, as during he highs you are quite awake and can be quite productive. It's mainly that the lows become progressively mentally paralysing.

I've stayed up for long periods of time (~36 hours) quite frequently, usually as part of doing work. Sometimes it's fine, sometimes it's extremely draining. The weirdest part is that after a while, everything begins to seem hyper-real, almost like a dream. Big leaves especially. Kind of weird.

About 40 hours.
How I passed the time during that? I played Monopoly with a friend. It's amazing how something so boring normally can entertain a tired mind.

about 4 days and a half. followed by my first time falling asleep during a raid, waking up to my guild yelling at me, logging off and going to sleep for a whole day... best experience ever! xD

* back to topic*
was a challenge from one of my friends, because I'm known for staying awake for long periods of time, even during school.
1. try cans of coffee with lots (and I mean LOTS) of sugar ^^.
2. whatever you do, never look at the time.
3. have friends over to keep you awake.
4. do something you like, so you'll have fun and don't want to stop
(5. when you finally fall down and sleep, you'll probably have some weird dreams. just go with it.. That's what happened to me at least...)

I've managed to stay awake for well over an hour in one sitting.
It's amazing what you can do when you put your concentration into- (thud.)

About five and a half days. My grandfather gave us a challenge in which he said if we could pass his record of one week solid, he would get us an electric guitar.

Here's the secret:

Play action-oriented video games at night.
Drink a mildly caffeinated beverage every 90 minutes.
You know that feeling you get when you think "oh, I'll just rest my eyes?" Don't do it. You will fall asleep. When that feeling arises, go run around outside. Even in the dead of night if it's safe.
Take two showers a day.
Do the normal routine during the day.

24 hours.

Had major insomnia.

Beside that never had a reason to stay up for that long.

Probably about 20 hours, and even that was because I was on a flight from London to New York in the most uncomfortable seat possible, unable to move because the people either side were asleep.

Nothing gets between me and sleep.
