The Oncoming Storm, The Destroyer of Worlds, the man who sends the most feared creatures in all creation running with just a smile...The Doctor. A man who can spell either salvation or eternal doom depending on who you are and what side you are on, sometimes you'll get a second chance (And in other cases, you won't). He's had many faces across the years, and is a character unmatched by anything else on Television. So, Escapists, which is your favorite?

Ok, so i know this topic has been done to death but, mine's different...mine has a cool photo of all the doctors up until now at the top of the page so ha! All the same, which is your favorite? For me, it has to be Doctor Number 7 played by Sylvester Mccoy. Don't get me wrong, Tennant is a close second but...can't go wrong with Mccoy in my books. So escapists, what about you?

As I am quite unable to even find old episodes of the Doctor, I'm going to have to go with one of the four doctors I have seen. 8,9,10,11 are the ones I've seen. And from those, I'm going to have to say TENNANT. Without a shadow of a doubt. That man is sheer genius wrapped in a brown coat.

11th. I really like his personality. Plus, he was my First. So... yea, Matt Smith.

Not to put down Eccelston or Tennant, of course. Amazing doctors. But series 5 and 6 are just my type of sci-fi. Moffat is awesome.

I haven't seen any pre-Revival episodes, to my undying shame. :c

I wasnt really old enough to get into the series until Eccleston (9th doctor) took over for the reboot.

Though by and far David Tennant (10th doctor) is my favorite doctor.

Well lately I've been watching a few episodes of the classic series on Netflix and I've come the conclusion, now have observed Doctors 2, 3, 4, 5, 9, 10, & 11, that each actor has brought their own unique charm to the role of the Doctor. However my personal favourite is David Tennant, #10. I don't know, he just seemed to be the most alive. Second being Matt Smith, he seems to revel in the role as well. Although I can understand how Tom Baker is a favorite to many.

Tom Baker was the first Doctor I saw, so naturally I have soft spot for him. But really, I like all of them for different reasons -- even Colin Baker, who I think got a rather raw deal.

Honestly, to choose any N of them would be a disservice to those left. No one has turned in a sucky performance of the Doctor, and I wouldn't turn down the opportunity to have a chat with any of them.

If, on the other hand, you wanted to talk about Worst Companion Evar...

Oh, I don't know. Not even McCoy could save The Greatest Show in The Galaxy.

I only know the last three so I have to side with the majority and say Tennant too.
Though that's because he had some of the best episodes I know. Blink, Silence of the Library and such.
Eccleston had the badassery.

Chris Eccleston was the best Dr. Just returned from the Time War, hate on his mind, he had some serious issues.

You always remember your first doctor. For me it would be Tom Baker. Also, if you get any of the DVDs that he is doing commentary on, they are just weird and he talks about how good all the women look in a very creepy way.

As far as the new seasons go it's David Tennant, hands down favorite. Though Matt Smith continues to grow on me.

Love the poll choices!

But, in all fairness, it's not so much the Doctor that makes Dr Who, it's the writing, which varied quite a bit before becoming consistently rubbish in the revival.

For example, it wasn't Tennant's fault he got stuck in a crappy soap opera full of total idiots, turned into Jesus Tinkerbell Fairy, and dragged out his regeneration for 20 minutes of cliched attempts at tearjerking.

Most people say that their first Doctor is always their Doctor, but I just love Eleven. He makes me happy, he doesn't mope and he doesn't pout. He seems young and enthusiastic while also feeling old and knowing of the universe. He doesn't play favorites with species and doesn't have keening sexual tension. I like him because he's as free as he wants to be, and absolutely mad. He knows what he's doing and he knows how he feels but he doesn't dwell, I like it. I also like the bow-tie. Seriously, bow-ties.

If Christopher Eccleston stayed longer, I would have been much happier. I love his Doctor. He was my Doctor, I started with taking Series 1 on DVD from the public library, and fell in love with his portrayal of the Doctor.
