Not only do I want to know your favorite/most used TF2 character, but also
1.) Why do you like them/use them a lot; do they seem to control better than the others, do they seem to do things similar to you, things like that.
2.)The character who annoys you the most when you are being your favorite character. Do you hate how snipers seem to always catch your noggin too fast, or does the scout bounce around too much for you to catch? Things like that.
3.) What strategies you use to attempt to beat your opponents with your favorite/most used character, such as the traditional medic + heavy combo, or sniping from afar. This is mainly for you to say what works and why, and what doesn't work, and why about your strategies.
4.)*Optional* Any extra thoughts or opinions you might have.
This thread is mainly to argue about different strategies.
Anyway, here's something that I might expect to be posted:
1.) My favorite class is the Pyro, because I like the idea of fire, the destructive properties, and the rebirth/renewal thing about it. But mainly it's cause it's fun lighting literally the entire enemy team on fire.
2.) The character who annoys me the most, is, surprisingly, the Engineer (Even though the soldier is my counter, his rockets are so easy to dodge, and they rarely pay attention to what's behind them, I find myself killing most Soldiers I encounter.). His turrets always manage to plaster me no matter where I am, and the pyro has no good long-range attack, so I find myself at odds with turrets and Engineers.
3.)My primary strategy is very easily distrupted, but it's still quite effective. In defensive maps, I hide behind corners, then, once someone comes along, and if i'm faster on the draw, I rush there lines and chase down as many people as possible with my flamethrower before I die. It's my suicidal tactics that leave me in the position to get annihilated by turrets, but fortunately I am good at flanking the enemy.
4.) I hate spies! Those tricky little guys just get on my nerves! I am an excellent spy-checker, and I randomly spew flame everywhere, catching most of them, but they can take out my teammates so easily sometimes, It's almost funny.
Ok, so post away! :D

In the time I played, Scout. I liked the speed advantage, found it gave me the edge nine times out of ten.

I hated Snipers. Somehow they always got me.

Hit and run, then come in and take the case.

I mostly use the Heavy.

1) I kind of gravitated toward the Heavy class for some reason unknown to me. I have played him since the vanilla version of the game and never really switched.

2) The most annoying class that I have to deal with is probably a Demoman using a sticky launcher.

3) I just spin up a lot, look behind me a lot (for Spies and such sneaking up) and jump corners while spun up a lot. I usually go without a medic, but I'm fine with having one too of course.
I prefer to use Sasha, Sandvich and Fists of Steel. This setup works well if you don't have a medic to keep you alive.

4) People have been complaining that the Heavy needs to be nerfed. As a dedicated Heavy I would actually have to agree. The vanilla version Heavy was pretty useless, and needed a buff...but then they just kept buffing him like crazy.

1.) Why do you like The PYRO so much? Why use them a lot?
Fire. Seriously, fire. I may not be the best benefit to my team, that is reserved for playing as Heavy, but the ability to scuttle an unsuspecting team is always priceless. More often than not, even if the enemy team does have a good chemistry, that initial panic can result in a make-or-break situation that ultimately succeeds for us.

2.)The character who annoys you the most when you are being your favorite character?
Good question. I'd have to say other Shotgun Pyros. Snipers are no problem with Flares, so I'm never really able to go toe-to-toe with another fellow sociopath.

3.) What strategies you use to attempt to beat your opponents with your favorite/most used character?
Depends on the enemy class. I end up avoiding certain classes like the Scoot and other Pyro's... But more often than not, Circle strafing around key targets in a suicide run will terminate Engie-Firebases, allow me to Axetinguish Medi-Heavies, and outright murder spies. More often that not, Pyro is similar to the Spy, Hit and run, light and sprint, or go back home while lighting whoever's in front and never turning back.

4.)*Optional* Any extra thoughts or opinions you might have.
I'm not the best as Pyro. I'm a damn good Heavy, Solder, and Engineer too. A good TF2 player needs a few favorites.

Need an Engineer option here, need an engineer option here, need an engineer option here.
1) I'm a nub, so I like classes that benefit more from lateral thinking than twitch, and Engineer fits this to a tee - I really like setting up gunslinger ambushes, strategically placing dispensers, and so on. My other favorite class, Demoman, falls into the same category for me, although it requires more twitch to do well with.
2) Heavies! Sometimes one just walks around a corner and promptly wrecks you, your mini-sentry, and (if it's in the area) your dispenser within about 5 seconds.
3) Mini-sentry ambushes (or really just general spamming) seem to work wonders.

1) I play as a spy because I'm decent at it, i also am pretty good at not getting spotted, sapping sentries. I know most of the map layouts too, which REALLY helps.

2) This one is obvious, PYRO! Spy-Checks are annoying.

3) I tend to cloak behind enemy lines (i play CTF and PL mostly), then i disguise myself as a sniper, that way i can stay in the back and they wont expect anything. Then, i just sap the sentries and try to get a chain of backstabs (PL) or take out the heavy+medic combos.

4) Being good as a spy takes time, i'm F2P so i know im not the best. But spy definitely needs the most practice. I have about 15/25 hours as spy and 5/25 as sniper. If you arent really good (like me) pick a support class or even a medic. when you're a medic you learn how other classes play.

The Medic.

I tend to use Medic the most, just looking at the total time played.

1) I tend to use him a lot because no one else every freaking plays as a medic. Somebody has to do it I guess. Also, it is really funny when you sneak into a base and kill everyone while playing as the weakest class in the game. Bwahahahahaha! >:)

2) I don't know. Pretty much every other class can kill me right away, so... Everyone, I suppose?

3) I tend to team up with one of the more combat oriented classes like Pyro, Soldier, Demoman or Heavy, and help them rack up the kills.

4) I love playing classes how they were not designed to be played. Sneaking into the enemy base in 2Fort and stealing the flag as a medic is one of the most satisfying things I have done. Also: placing turrets in an enemies base as an engy, causing all sorts of havoc and mischief. That never gets old.

Disclaimer: You do not have to pay for them, you can also get them through random drops. Meaning that if someone put in a good 30-40 hours they could probably get all the weapons. This seems like a cheap trick to extend play time, but you're having so much fun it doesn't matter. At least, that's what is happening in my case even though I only have 3 or so hours in.

My primary is Sniper, because I'm damn good at it.
As you would guess, my most hated foe is the spy. Games where it seems the entire enemy team goes Spy are pretty frustrating.
A lot of games these days just boil down to Sniper-battles, though. If I'm spending my entire game just trying to keep the enemy snipers down, something's probably wrong with the team strategies.

For maps where it isn't practical, I tend more towards Pyro or Soldier. I'm pretty decent as Soldier now, but as Pyro, I'm a fiend!

Medics abandon their Heavies to back me up because I get further in the fight. True story.
Anti-Pyro people may whine and call me names, but then they burn to death.

Pyro is my top but engie is close.

Why?

FIRE FIRE FIRE CHAOS!

I can break an enemy charge and cause massive damage, sure I tend to die real fast but my team can then clean up the many wounded since I always get the key targets (medics, ect).

Any class can kill me if they get the drop on me as I use the backburner and play as an ambush pyro.

my engie is fun when I play with friends as we make nasty engie traps and defences. The most points/kills I ever got was as an engie, and as i am sure you can guess my hated enemy is the spy.

The bad ones make my day though, wrangler is sweet when a bad spy shows up.

It changes month to month
Currently it's Pyro and my favorite method of dispatching other players is degreaser+axtinguisher. One hits all classes and for heavy I just burn them a little longer or it takes two swings. Most hated class is scout, because they are tough to melee, and Engineer, because axes are ineffective against turrets.

A close second is Demoman with a vanilla loadout. Medics love me because they know ubering me will guarantee them an assload of points. Favorite tactic is laying a minefield while rushing, lob some grenades, then bait the other team to chase me. Most hated class is...well...haven't come up against a complete counter to a sticky demo. I guess a direct hit soldier and insane pyros.

I'm also very streaky with the huntsman. Some days it seems the arrows are magnetized to their heads and others it seems like the arrows pass through bodies without hurting shit.

1.) Engie.
Why? Because I don't have a desktop, and I always lose my USB mice. You can be a decent Engineer even with a trackpad.
And if you don't think the trackpad is that bad, you must realise that it doesn't accurately pick up your strokes half the time. So imagine playing any other class when you can't reliably move!
Yeaaaah...

Give me good, reliable hardware, and I'm all over the soldier. Otherwise, I go with Heavy and Pyro, in addition to Engie.
Strangely enough, out of all the weapons in the game, I'm the best shot with the flare gun.

2.)Spies are annoying, to be sure, but my real biggest bother is the demomen. Get a spy problem? A fellow teammate will be your flaming body guard.
Have a demoman problem? "I'm using the backburner!" "What? Why would a friendly heavy shoot at your buildings?"
And that's long before the game went F2P.

3.) Communication.
Careful communication, so as to not anger my team mates. Just saying, "Hey, could someone airblast or minigun the stickies away from my buildings?" usually gets people who don't know that heavies and pyros can deter sticky grenades (who also are not as aware of my oft-crucial position) come on over and give it a try to see if its true.
Its a win-win.

4.)With engies, at least, people undervalue two big tactics: 1. In any capture game, if you're not building an uber or are going to try to scoutrush, go engineer and help your teammates build. Imagine if a team, instead of having maybe a turret or two up, had two or three sets of buildings erected and at least level 2 when the game began!
Once you've leveled something up two levels or so, its typically best to just go and change to the class you intend on playing so you can get in position.
A key factor here, again, is communication. Make it very clear that you're being an engineer only to help the career engies set up, and possibly what you intend to be as soon as you get the chance to change class.

Also, while some people will argue with me on this, playing the engie as an annoyer can be useful on certain maps.
For example, once you get your teleporters in a useful position (Like from the spawn to the intelligence, where it can both speed your teammates defense, but can act as an alarm if an enemy decides to destroy your building before capturing the bag) set up a despencer in a corner on the balcony, and start building a turret right there.
Sure, you could argue that you're wasting a player slot with this tactic, but you are causing the same to happen to the opposing team. There's almost ALWAYS at least one sniper in 2fort, and if you're constantly building turrets, they become torn between destroying your building or shooting at your teammates, allowing you to get to level 2, where they can't one-off your guns.
Not to mention, you cause for scouts coming over the roof, and distract any ground troops, especially soldiers and demoman.
This can be easily overcome with a bit of teamwork on the enemy's part, but how often do you see that?
Still, make sure there's some medic action going on before persuing this tactic- most of the maps where this can be useful do best with medical attention as a high priority.

I bought the orange box many years ago.... I just downloaded it on PC for free, I have been a soldier twice in two 45 minute multi-player territory type matches.

On top of random drops you'll also get guaranteed weapons upon completing achievement milestones on each class. =p

That said. My favourite is Pyro but I main Medic (which I love to play a lot as well, mind you), heh, so.

1.) Why do you like them/use them a lot;
Well, a variety of reasons. First, healing comes natural to me, after having mained a medic or other healer archetype in Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, Guild Wars and Lord of the Rings Online it became a pretty easy pick on what class to play first. Second, they're almost always in demand. Part of the reason why for the longest time I could barely play Spy and Sniper was because you always had at least one of each of those on the team and only one or no medics, so hey, instead of watching my team get steamrolled I'll put my wish to play another class today aside and go medic, goodness knows I can do it better than anyone else on the team anyway. And finally, it's just satifying to help a team keep up the pressure and push to victory through your healing. Providing my team is competent~

2.)The character who annoys you the most when you are being your favorite character
Depending on how good my team is, everything or nothing. If my team is capable at protecting me and looking out for me, or if the enemy is just bad I don't have to fear much, I can even take out a W+1 Pyro by myself if I see him coming and I for whatever reason don't, in one instance I even needled and circle strafed a Heavy to death. Basically, if my team is competent I don't have much to fear aside from the odd backstab or headshot, nothing frustrating.
But if the enemy team has several competent players and, well, hardly anyone on my team is, then any class can turn frustrating. Scouts jump in from behind and the person or people I'm healing ignore my cries for help and I die in a few shots while trying to switch to my syringe gun. Or soldiers/demomen aim past my healing target to get me instead and my medic "buddy" doesn't have the sense to jump into the path of the rocket. Or ... well, you get the gist, anyone who knows their class well can kill a medic if his team isn't looking after him.

3. My strategies differ from map to map and situation to situation, really. On defence on A/D maps I might be tempted to use Kritzkrieg, if the situation is dire I might use the Vita saw just so I can churn out as many ubers as possible, and so on. It really varies. But basically, I want to beat the entire team, so I assess the situation, see what the enemy is using, choose Kritz or Über accordingly and then give it to the right player for the job. This can be a pyro, soldier, heavy or demoman. Although goodness knows I've übercharged or kritzed engineers or snipers for a giggle. Sometimes an almost too effective giggle, but hey!

1.) Why do you like them/use them a lot; do they seem to control better than the others, do they seem to do things similar to you, things like that.
My crappy internet connection mostly makes me play Engineer, since I can let my sentry do the aiming for me. Also, Engineer offers area denial, team mobilisation and resupply; no other class can do that.
2.)The character who annoys you the most when you are being your favorite character. Do you hate how snipers seem to always catch your noggin too fast, or does the scout bounce around too much for you to catch? Things like that.
Spies are the obvious choice with their sap-and-stab tactics, but in practice a Soldier peeking round the corner or Uber-Heavy can do a lot more damage to your buildings.
3.) What strategies you use to attempt to beat your opponents with your favorite/most used character, such as the traditional medic + heavy combo, or sniping from afar. This is mainly for you to say what works and why, and what doesn't work, and why about your strategies.
My strategies generally involve putting up a teleporter as far away from spawn as possible to mobilise my team, placing dispensers in defensive locations and finding the best position to place sentries for effective area denial- for instance, the whole of 2Fort can effectively be locked down with one sentry by the main resupply room.
4.)*Optional* Any extra thoughts or opinions you might have.
The Engineer is the most useful defensive class in the right hands, and with some unlock weapons like the Gunslinger and the Wrangler he can also be offensive. Sure, most Engies just use the turtling strategy, but a good Engineer moves his buildings forward with his team.

I tend to switch between classes a lot. I try to play whatever my team needs more of and don't play classes that are already over saturated. I tend to perform best with the sniper, heavy and pyro.

By far the most annoying class is the demoman. Getting insta killed by some loose grenade launched by a guy that wasn't even at aiming at any particular person is very irritating.

Gentlemen?

Much hated, most often accused of cheating, ballet dancer of the ballisong.
In reality? Tactical genius, Master of Disguise and King of Misdirection.

My hates: The mush-mouthed Pyro, and the filthy Sniper. One covers everything in flames, the other in his fluids.

My strategies? Monsieur, you will find them out soon enough. Révéler ce secret, moi?

You may never cheer me on, but a faint praise when you find dead bodies/sentries in your path would be appréciée.

{1} I like fire. It's a bit easier to aim/spread.

{2} Demo-Man, actually. I find alot of explosives underfoot.

{3} Oh, I love strategy. Mine is a basis in Malcolm Reynolds art of war. They hate it when you shoot them. Or in my case, when I BURN them especially if snuck upon!

{4} I DO like using the other characters, of course. I've had good times.

I have Sniper as my most played (Closely shadowed by Spy)

1) I like to avoid confrontation, so stading a mile away popping heads before anyone can reach me is quite nice (As is cloaking behind enemy lines and pretending to be an ally)

2) Heavy's annoy me the most, since they often take either a fully charged shot or 3-4 quick scope headshots (When being healed by a medic) they also can screw up my aim quite a lot by firing at me from large distances.

3) When I can I like to snipe from afar, but usually I catch people off-guard by leading the charge and quick-scoping at close range.

This strategy is difficult to pick up but after getting used to it, it is devastating (Until you get kicked from the server for "hacking"...)
