This is not a "Pc rox, Mac is stoopid" discussion. I'm just curious as to what everyone is running and if you game on your pc or not.

I, myself, am a Linux Ubuntu user. I casually game (Mostly browser games) on my system through Steam (ran through WINE)

So, what is your operating system of choice and do ya game on it?

I use Ubuntu Linux on my comp, though I can't really put my finger on why. Helps that It's free.
I mostly game on consoles. It's just to expensive for me to get a full blown gaming PC

I switched over after a bad experience with Windows tech support. I switch between Linux OS occasionally but usually return once Ubuntu puts out it's newest release :p

Right now I mostly use Windows, due to the fact that I need it for a vast majority of PC Games.

I do prefer using Linux, though. Not only do I find tinkering with it fun, but I like the openness and customability of most Linux OSs

Windows, simply because it's easy for certain things. Thinking of going over to Ubuntu, it's just annoying since I already have everything set up nicely on Windows.
Yeah, I understand that. Great thing is the adaptation period from Windows to Ubuntu is getting smaller. You can always dual boot if you want to try it out before driving out or running from the Linux lake haha

Knowing the Escapist, I'm willing to bet that most people are going to say Window XP.
A really simple system, that has it's rewards for people who know how to use it.
Now it's harder to find all the little things that got buried under the more user friendly interface. For example, it took me forever to figure out how to do things like make hidden files.

I do have it dual booted, just getting the programs I usually use and making sure my games work is the thing. I mostly wanted to use it because they use Linux at my university's computer lab for a fair amount of the stuff I do.
This is me, jumping to conclusions! Sorry about that, and that's really neat of your University.

so some guy I kind of know gave me this OS called "HAL" said it was really good and free..I didnt ask where he got it

but yeah installed it on my newly built rig

it is pretty amazing, like its intelligent, it talks and everything...excpet it acts weird at times...I put in a CD, and when I was done...my disk drive wouldnt open, I asked HAL to open it and it said "I cant do that..."

and somtimes I feel like its watching me, especially when I sleep..like the little light for the webcam is on..but I never turned it on...then its off again....

ok ok..windows 7..since that came with the comuter..and its not vista

Just wanted to say... I read that first line and immediately tried to find an OS called HAL via Google. At best I found some software, then I came back, read it and facepalmed for not having read it in full the first time -__-
hahaha didnt think my lame joke was that convincing, sorry about that :p

Where's the option for those of us who don't give a flip and/or have heterogeneous networks?

Primarily, however, Windows XP. Specifically XP64 on my primary desktop.

"Of choice" would be some form of Linux, but I don't have a real gaming rig and Macs are overpriced, so Windows it is.

I far prefer XP but as it does not allow more than 3GB of ram I have been forced to use this shitty ass cluster fuck known as Win7.
Although the classic shell makes it much, much better.

Always had Windows, so it's hard to compare it with any other OS. Currently using Windows 7. Pretty welcome after the dreadful Vista.
