Hey guys, I was wondering what makes a game good in your books. Is it the engaging storyline, The game play, open world with other things to do or a straight forward linear? Re-playability or the multiplayer?

First off, anyone who says 'Story', 'Open World' or 'Multiplayer' evidently hasn't played Tetris, Pong or Space Invaders. And by those I mean the old versions, not the updated ones that keep being released on DS. I chose gameplay, since a game can be the best in the world foir everything else but if I can't control the character or whatever in an easy manner, then I'm not going to enjoy playing the game.

How about overall entertainment? I play games because they entertain me.
I agree with this, though for me a game has to have at least decent gameplay and story to suck me in like a ten dollar whore.
(Off-topic)--- Holy shit, I have almost 600 more posts than you and you've been a member way longer than me. Hmm, maybe I shouldn't post so much on this forum, but i swear it's like an addiction... Somebody... please.. help, me..

The gameplay, probably. It's the foundation of a game, after all. But all other elements are neccesary as well.

Very unfortunately, this poll does not work as well as it could. Mindblowing story vs polished gameplay and awesome scripts vs. open world are two separate debates.

I rarely post on the forum, just read most of the posts :)

Overall entertainment is important but I mainly like a good gameplay or story line in games. I almost never play a multiplayer game.

A game is designed to be played, therefore gameplay (the clue is in the name) seems like it should be the most important thing, yes?

Depending on the game and the people playing it, it's not the only important thing of course (personally I like games with deep and well-written stories), but it is the thing that makes a game a game.

It's all an important part of the experience, obviously, but I'd take a good story with passable/mediocre gameplay over the opposite any day.

What makes a thread? Originality. Therefore you fail.

Shame, that wasnt the question. I was asking what makes a game (fun) for you. If I had asked what made a thread then your comment would "win"... but thanks for your input anyway.
