(Take another shot)

The thing that makes me the mosst nostalgic is music.

Specifically "The Boys are Back in Town" by Thin Lizzy.

Ironically, I was not alive when that song came out, and had not listened to it until about a month ago.

Search bar approved, as far as the three result pages I bothered to look at say.

sadly I will get the most nostalgic from music. I say sadly because I grew up in the late 90's early 2000's so most of it sucks.
this song in particular takes me back.

I don't even like it, it just takes me back.

Nothing any more. Old video games used to make me feel nostalgic but retro gaming has become regular now so the feeling of nostalgia has gone.

Sometime I still feel a little bit of nostalgia when I listen to Brave New World by Iron Maiden or Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana.

I know how you feel, my sister would always play this song called "Grace Kelly" by MIKA.

She still plays it sometimes, and it takes me back every time.

I think I'm actually starting to like it.

I suppose food is the closest option there, since it's smell that gives me the most vivid recall. Music works to some extent, images and videos become hazy pretty quickly in my mind, but smells bring me straight back.

Often it's more of the thought that makes me nostalgic rather than the actual item I'm reminiscing about, be it a cartoon, a movie, or a game, often because it feels different to the present me.

For example, I grew up playing Megaman 3 with friends, and the first game I owned was Pokemon Blue. For the former, I'm now no longer playing with friends in order to see who can get more health off the boss before dying, as I now am much better as a gamer. With the latter, I make more informed decisions when I play pokemon games rather than doing what I did as a kid (dumping HM moves on my party, playing with only the ones that look cool, avoiding random battles, etc.). It feels different now, but I'll still get a good feeling thinking about it.

Damn, I almost forgot (and this is a separate post because my other one won't appear), but mac and cheese sends me straight through my whole childhood. Hell, even the name gives me that feeling.

This song evokes memories of fun summers. A time when my friends weren't easily categorised as either angsty or self-important.

Remember fun?...
