My thinking is, if you can only get one, Saints Row 3 will last far longer. Hell, you could still be playing it when you can get Revelations. Same reason I'm getting Skyrim before SR3 and Arkham City.
However, since you're not able to get both at the same time, go for SR3 since the projected amount of play-time and sheer dumb fun you can have will be a hell of a lot more... unless you (like me) find Ezio's ass so damned sexy you don't mind staring at it for hours on end.
If you're at all interested in Revelations multilayer then I'd say go with Revelations. But assuming you have way too much free time on your hands then get SR3.
Get AC:R. Why? Because everyone plays AC for the story. And if you don't get it right away there is a big chance that you'll run into a huge spoiler. And it doesn't matter when you're gonna get SR3 if you already know you are gonna get it. Go for the awesome conclusion to Ezio's story.
