So, I unpacked and hooked up my Xbox this afternoon after work, started playing a little CoD4 because I hadn't quite unlocked all the achievements for it yet, and it started freezing, then (on the third reboot) gave me the dreaded 3-quadrant RROD. Now, since I bought it three years and four days ago, the warranty's out (dirty, dirty trick there Micro$oft) and I'm looking for something to do with it. Suggestions? I'm not going to bother getting it repaired, when it will cost about the same to just get the cheapest 360 (which just got $50 cheaper - now it's $150 =D )

Trade it in for a new one and don't tell them it's broken
I did that with a faulty PS2 I had

Use it to bludgeon pigeons?

I thought I'd heard somewhere that it was an 8 year warranty, because Microsoft weren't money-grubbing bastards. I was kind of depending on that myself...

Hmm... Lie about the Warranty to Microsoft
Try hitting it, jiggling things, and pressing the button over and over again.
If all else fails, don't use Toothpaste.

In all seriousness, you could just wait for the new 360 Model perhaps? Maybe take the RRoD to Dinner in the meantime?

Try turning it off and back on again. I got three lights up and this worked with mine. Weirdly. It now sounds horrid like the fans aren't working properly but it's still going.
My other suggestion is buy one of the new Slim Xboxes as they look awesome.

Kinda sank that when I cracked the case, y'know? And anyway, sadly, it is indeed a three-year warranty from the date of purchase...

Well... Son of a birch...

There's still the bludgeoning pigeons approach though.

If you know what your doing or have the right people you could scavange it for parts. I know someone who used the fan for inside of his computer.
