As I browse these forums I see a vast difference in types of posts. Some posts are incredibly well-thought out and structured, while others are a mess of immaturity (sometimes lacking any decent punctuation) and it makes me wonder:

"How old is the person typing this?"

The Escapist forums must house a variety of age groups and it'd be nice to see just how many there are in each range.

And, as an added discussion point, tell "us" about any occasion when you have been mistaken for older (or younger) than you are. Also, working under the assumption that everyone at the Escapist is a "gamer" in some form or another, tell us what age you were when you started gaming.

[sup]This is my first thread creation on The Escapist so I hope I've mentioned enough points to get a good discussion going[/sup]

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm 27.
First gaming experience was on the Commodore 64, and I think the game was Paperboy. I would have been around 8/9, I think.
The other day at a pub (in the middle of the afternoon), I was with a friend (who is 18 - live in the UK btw, so we're both of legal drinking age) and even though I was buying soft drinks, we were both asked for ID.
I'm turning 17 in October.
I get mistaken for being over 18 every time I either buy booze or grow my hobo beard (or, indeed, both at the same time).
My age is one of the few personal things i don't really care if people know on the internet.
I'm 16.
I think I got my first console at 7/8 years old, and it was a second hand SNES. After that, I got a second hand PS1, then stuck with Sony as my main console ever since.
I'm turning 18 in 3 weeks. Yay me.
People generally think I'm at least 20 on meeting me. I'm not sure what that says about me...
My first gaming experience - Sega Mega Drive, Sonic the Hedgehog. How I love thy 2D epicness.
I don't care if I'm wearing rose-tinted glasses; the Mega Drive is the greatest console in creation.
Hmmm... I don't like to say my age... I'd rather see people take a guess at it and see how close they get...
Anyway, first gaming experience...
I was never really interested in video games until I met my step-dad, who had a Sega Megadrive and a Playstation. Ah, the memories...
Also, he got me into anime...
Started gaming on the game boy colour (Pokémon, then got into Zelda amongst other things) when I was about 6.
I once tried to buy a 12+ rated game and was asked for proof of age. I'm 16. I was rather bemused, bought the game at another shop and showed it to the shop assistant who denied it to me. The look on his face was brilliant.
I'm 28.
Although, if I aged one year for every "How Old Are You?" Thread I've seen here I'd be collecting my Old Age Pension and hitting on Nurses.
EDIT: I've narrowed down my first gaming experience to be either playing Frogger, Battletank, etc, on my Atari, or making it 3/4 of the way through Level 1-1 in Super Mario Bros. when the Nintendo first came out over here.
I'm 16, but try and find large grammatical mistakes in my previous posts. Go ahead, try!
My first gaming experience came from my old Gameboy with Pokemon. I still play that thing, but play more of the new Pokemon nowadays.
