Hello escapists, I'm a huge lurker and this is my first topic, so I might not be so good at this. But bear with me.

Basically, I'm curious as to what dreams gamers have beyond, well... playing video games. I'm certain its highly varied and probably going to break my poll but this is something I'm genuinely curious about, as evidenced by me making a thread about it :D I want to know what drives gamers. Maybe I'm stupid and the majority of us just want to be (or already are) in games development. Or maybe most of us want to change the world and solve some big world problems? How many are pursuing something in the arts? Or maybe we just want to be along for the ride? Well, I don't know, and I couldn't find anything on this website, so yeah. This is my dumb question.

edit: I thought I covered the stereotypical gamer jobs but oh no... consider computers as part of science or invention, and I forgot to put 'Other'. Hmm. Well I'm prepared for the anger that is to come from that, if anyone comes at all of course

i think your attempt to break down all possible career paths into 8 options is unlikely to be sucsessful, but points for trying.

OT: hoping for medical research at the end of my BSc, but it is hard to get into, and hard to stay in, so we will see how we go

I work in the music business. Probably not a stereotypical gamer job, although I do some non-music related dull wage slave stuff occasionally when bills get a bit tight. The music biz people I know think I'm some shut-in gaming uber-nerd, but all the gaming nerds I know think I'm some cool sociable music guy. Definitely a case of living two cultures more or less at odds with each other.
