Seriously Hollywood. You have given us Transformers 2 - a film nobody wanted and many of us begged you not to make. You have given us The Day the Earth Stood Still, assassinating a classic with a piece of wood (Keanu Reeves trying to act), and there are rumours that you are busy butchering Forbidden Planet now.

Why?!

Why waste time on all that crap when you can make a film about dinosaurs eating people?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jurassic_Park_%28franchise%29#Jurassic_Park_IV

Am I alone in wanting this film sooner rather than later?

I honestly don't get everyone's problem with Keanu Reeves. If you watch any movie with him in it and expect the acting to be good it's like going into a McDonalds and expecting not to get your arteries clogged.
Besides at least an as an actor he has gotten better over the years (Maybe from being like an E for effor to a D-, but still progress).
I'd rather watch a movie with him in it than one dimensional actors who only play themselves like I dunno, Nicholas Cage.

OT: No, no new movie. Let the franchise die. I want new ideas for movie not rehashings of movies I love ruining them forever, which is basically what this last decade has been.

In all honesty I'd prefer a good Jurassic Park video game. Something like Tresspasser, only with better graphics and atmosphere, and less suck.

I think the Jurassic Park series has had a good run anyway. How many movies can you think of that stayed good after a 4th movie?

Indy died in shame.
Star wars: SHAME.
Star Trek also on the shame train.
James Bond is not over to mu knowledge, but it's getting bad (I like his acting, but the plot...)

Can we let a franchise go out without a bang of horribleness that spoils what once was? Yes. Yes we can.

It seems to me like they're trying to decide whether to reinvent the franchise with a new cast or debating over bringing the old cast back. I wouldn't hold your breath for it. I'd like to see JP IV myself but movies franchises that go past three movies tend to die or turn shit, only exception is Lethal Weapon 4. That was awesome.

Please dont destroy JP any further, the last film was bad enough. Every other recent remake has been beyond painful so would rather keep my relatively un-defiled memories of the first couple of films.

I think the movies have got increasingly stupid in story and acting since the first(not horrible just not as good). Why continue on a spiral downwards unless they are going to make a new interesting story or something. Though i have to admit that everything looks a lot better in the movies with new tech and ways to make the dinosaurs look cool.

Jurassic Park 3 was a complete disaster, a horribly failed attempt to make a movie half as good as either of its predecessors. I don't want to see Jurassic Park butchered again.

My personal view is indifference, however, I believe this would be evidence to making another.

I mean, they can't make it worse than "The raptors...they're talking...they're opening doors...they're climbing dooors...they're turning into planes...they're fightin' RUSSIANS!"

There will be no Jurassic Park 4. When Michael Crichton died, the execs (mostly Spielberg) decided that in Crichton's honor they would not make another sequel. Spielberg is making a movie of Crichton's pirate book, but that is a because it is a direct adaptation, not a sequel to one of Crichton's original storylines. It would be nice if someone would start a new live-action dinosaur franchise though.

I actually prefered 3 over 2. I didn't like Speilbergs politically correct Tyranosaurus victims from the other two films, and the raptors chasing them around the woods for the eggs was good fun too.

If John Travolta is in it, you might have serendipitously given us the script.

Personally I dislike the new Bond. He just doesn't...click for the role like the others did.

Though I agree with this guy. Poor Indiana Jones, why Crystal Skull? Why? Why did you make such a shit film with that stupid Shia idiot as the main character (of whom was a complete fuckwitted dickhead who ran around ruining the film) instead of, gosh, Indiana Jones?

Chances are if there was a new Jurassic Park film, it would just be surprise buttsecks-levels of CGI stupidity with a few shit actors on top.

I still didn't see the point in making a sequel to Jurassic Park, let alone a 4th.

I like the part on the wiki where Kathleen Kennedy said, "You know, when Michael Crichton passed away, I sorta felt maybe that's it. Maybe that's a sign that we don't mess with it."

I find this interesting because, after the first movie, they really didn't seem to care at all about the books. Anyone who has read the books will tell you that Crichton's Lost World is nothing like the movie with the exception of a few character names and a few similar situations.

I'm not saying the movie was better or worse, but to say that Crichton's death would make them nervous about ruining the story of his books is just silly. It's way to late for that.

JP 1 was awesome. JP 2 was good. JP 3 was passable. See the trend here?

We don't need a fourth

He's been busy murdering one his other franchises. I feel obliged to make a joke about dinosaurs and extinction and such but I can't make it work, so fuck that.

Well both the book and the movie adaption of the first Jurassic Park were superb.

The Lost World novel was fine, Chrichton didn't normally write sequels (which is a policy I can abide by) but he did so for the purpose of closing some plot holes in the first Jurassic Park, so I can forgive him. The movie adaption was nothing like it.

Jurassic Park III doesn't exist as far as I'm concerned.

Jurassic Park IV? Blasphemy!

They cancelled production due to one of the important directors/writers dying
