I'm not sure what to expect from this thread, I can see it going a few different ways, depending on how badly I have misjudged the scenarios. Anyway, without further ado, which of these crimes would you rather be falsely accused of?

You have come home to find your significant other lying in a puddle of blood just hours after the two of you have been arguing. The police are notified by a worried neighbour, and you are locked up. There is only a handful of circumstantial evidence against you, but there are no other suspects. After a 6 month fight in the courts, the real murderer is found and proven to be guilty, but not beyond all doubt.

You are caught in some nasty circumstances which lead you to be suspected in a child abuse case. As the child would not give evidence either way, the trial drags on for 6 months. Eventually the child confirms that it was someone else, and that person is prosecuted.

Using creative accountancy, your buisness partner has stolen billions from the company you started together. This company has become massive, and because of the stealing has had to declare bankruptcy. Thousands of jobs are lost, and the economy and millions of people suffer greatly because of the companies demise. Your partner denies your claims that you had nothing to do with it, but after six months of number crunching it is determined you cannot be charged.

So, which of these three would you rather be falsely accused of? Please mention why you'd rather be accused of one over another, and keep in mind that you wouldn't actually have commited the crimes. Just as a potential point of interest, I split the poll into genders.

Just to clarify the genders, vote for which gender you are rather than which you'd rather commit the crime against.

Well at least being a fraud extraordinaire takes some proper planning and intelligence. So I'd be kind of complimented if someone thought someone like me could pull it off.

Well if I was accused of being a murderer or a child abuser, the public would see me in a very bad way and that would hang over me for the rest of my life, regardless if I really did it or not.

So, fraud as it's a nonviolent crime.

I went for Child Abuse, because it's the thing I'm more likely to do? I suppose? I am in highschool and I'm 18, so I commit underage 'rape' often, screw it.

Fraud, I hadn't caused the banruptcy, but I get infamous for doing it. I would be in history books!

While the initial stigma is greater, I think a child abuse allegation that's proved to be false has the least amount of lingering stigma. My middle school principle was accused of child molestation, but it was found out pretty quick that the story was bunk. At first he lost his job and his wife, but he was rehired and promoted after he was cleared and I think he and his wife reconciled. Pretty much everyone sympathized with him and a bunch of people thought that it was wrong to fire him before the trial ended, even as it was going on.

Fraud sounds like a fun way to show how one man can mess with everything.
Being famous being a good side-point, along with being that intelligent.

I vote murder, assuming that the false accusation means prison time. Fraudsters get the butt-love from bigger inmates because they're sissies, and child abusers/molesters get the butt-love just prior to being stabbed with a broom handle because they're giant piles of shit. Murderers at least have some respect in prison. It could happen to them too, but the likelihood is at least smaller than the other 2 choices.

I'd go for child abuse, because I'd get away with it if I say I'm a priest.
Heyoo.
I sincerely apoligise, that was totally uncalled for.

EDIT: Oh, falsely accused.
I'd go with murder then.
With any luck, they'll find the bodies in my basement and blame the other guy for them aswell.
I did not kill them officer, it's bullshit!
I did not kill them, I did naaaaht.
Oh, hi Mark.

People seem to take child abuse more seriously than murder. It'd be the worst thing I could think of being accused of. Fraud seems fairly alright.

Fraud, for the same reason previously mentioned. That would be the fame and the thought that I'm actually able to pull that off. Friggin sweet.

Child abuse seems more sensible, because somebody dies/loads of people lose jobs and are sad in the other two.

But fraud sounds so much more awesome...

Fraud. It's the least violent, and something that big would put my name in history books. I would be famous!
