So there's been a lot of talk about Skyward Sword lately (well, not as much as Skyrim, but that's like saying I have less money than Bill Gates) and a few reviewers are saying it's a combination of the elements in WW and TP, with the best parts of both games.

This has reminded me of how different both these games were, to the point of being one of the more divisive debates among Zelda fanboys. Which game you liked more was kind of an indicator of where you wanted the series to go, and now that we see the direction it took, it seems like a good time to ask:

So which did you like more, WW or TP? Which is better in terms of graphics, gameplay, story and design? Which do you still remember fondly, and which has aged better? Or do you dislike both and why?

Personally, I liked Wind Waker more, I played TP over a Thanksgiving break, and it was all one messy, forgettable blurr while I still go back and play WW on occasion.

EDIT: And my poll is gone.

EEEEESSSSCAAAAAAAPIIIIIIISSSSST!

Twilight Princess was the first Zelda game I never bothered to finish, Wind Waker is the Zelda game I have beat the most, so I vote for WW

Wind Waker. I loved Wind Waker more than Twilght Princess.

Also, Skyward Sword is the ONLY Zelda game that I have not been excited about or looked forward to the release, and I was excited for Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks.

Wind Waker for sure. I loved the art style and the exploration element. It was its own thing but still a Zelda game at its core. Twilight Princess, on the other hand, just ended up being kind of bland and somewhat forgettable to me. Still a good game, but not as memorable as Wind Waker.

I have to go with the flow on this one and add my praise for Wind Waker. TP felt a lot like Ocarina of Time, which is about third or fourth from the bottom of my list of Zelda games, with the change that instead of swapping between child/adult, human/wolf.

Hard to say. Wind Waker had better art direction and a better story, while Twilight Princess suffered from Darker and Edgier syndrome. On the other hand, FUCK SAILING. Seriously.

Maybe it was Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks that ruined your excitement for the Zelda series, that's what happened with me anyway. All the fantastic reviews for Skyward Sword are encouraging though.

I vote Wind Waker but I think the two DS games ruined it for those graphics.

Twilight Princess was my least favorite Zelda game, but WW also comes in 2nd in that department. So Wind Waker I guess.
Really? Least favorite? Have you ever played this monstrosity [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zelda_II:_The_Adventure_of_Link]?

Honestly, I love both of them... pretty much equally, though I will say that I've beaten Twilight Princess more than Wind Waker, but that's because FUCKING SAILING and not the actual storyline itself. I think WW has a better story, but... FUCKING SAILING.

So, with them being even like that, I'm going to have to give the edge to Twilight Princess both because Midna > King of Red Lions, and Twilight's Link is WAY prettier to look at when he's not furry.

I'm going to assume you've never played Minish Cap, then. Worst support character ever, ruined the entire game for me... even made Navi tolerable...

I could get into the minute details of how I liked TW's story and art design more, but then we would be here all day. Ill just leave you with this. TW had Midna. WW had Tingle. Ill let that sink in.

I don't think so. Skyward Sword just doesn't look cool. I loved the Wind Waker aesthetics, and I loved Twilight Princess' graphics, but those two together looks horrendous.

You really had to make me choose? I love both of those games far too much to pick a favorite. I don't get all the hate for TP, though. What was so bad about it? It was the return to form we had all been waiting for! Sure, you have to innovate, but a return to roots isn't so bad every now and then.

Easy question. Twilight Princess, no competition. I have that game as number two on my personal "best Zelda games ever"-list (Right after Ocarina of Time, due to nostalgia). I got so bored from the endless sailing in Wind Waker, and finding the Triforce-pieces was a snore-fest.

I agree with that, the few screenshots I have seen looked unimpressive both in a technical sense and in a stylish sense. I haven't really been excited enough to follow the game though I will be at Gamestop on Sunday to pick up the bundle. I am more excited about the gold Wiimote than the game.

I loved the graphics in Wind Waker but found that the poor attempt to duplicate those graphics on the DS left a bad taste in my mouth. The DS games in general left a bad taste in my mouth, I still haven't beaten Spirit Tracks and I doubt I ever will. I beat Phantom Hourglass once but Wind Waker I've beaten 5 or 6 times.

No I did not. But from all the Zelda games that I DID play however, I felt Twilight Princess took that spot.
You're not missing out. It's horrible.
