So, i am currently REALLY BORED and sick of people talking about final fantasy.

Thus i decided i just might try to play one (or many if i like) of the final fantasy series. So which one do you guys suggest??
and btw, i do not own or have access to any gaming console, i just have a pc, windows xp, AMD 2.9 Ghz dual core and Nvidia 9500Gt

EDIT: and pls i prefer a game with a good story so dont suggest a game starting from half the story or something.

All the games have a seperate story other than X-2, so you don't need to worry about knowing anything before hand. Theres PC versions of FF7 and FF8 which can be found which should easily run on your pc, I suppose 7 would be the one to start with out of those two. Otherwise you would have to use an emulator. Would recommend X on the ps2 emulator if you want to use an emulator.

Play Final Fantasy IV or VI, theyre the only ones worth playing except maybe 9, all tho others either were to early in squares lifespan (See 1 2 and 3) and were not yet a perfected formula, or were hindered by WHINING ANGSTY PRICKS SERVING AS THE PROTAGONISTS.

Well.. citing that your planning on playing this on a PC... 7 or 8 would be your only choices considering its the only ones built for PC. Good luck finding either.

I doubt it would be wise to condone using EMUs. Though you can get PS1s for dirt cheap, and PS2s have PS1 backwards compat, but not quite as cheap sitting at 50$ or so.

And just from a perspective of hardware to software system specs and performance if your determined to use an EMU.. forget about anything PS2 era because that rig likely wont be able to handle the tricky PS2 emulation very well.

EDIT: Just from a FF standpoint, the ones most worthy of consideration for play would be FF1 Dawn of souls version is good) FF3(VI in japanland)Is arguably the best all around in the series. 7 is adequate but vastly overhyped. 9 is almost perfect until the final disc. X is.... decent.

Don't listen to the haters.
Final Fantasy 7 was the first one I played in the series, and I haven't played a better one since, (I've now played all of them).
8 came close, but 9 was in fact 'terribad'.
Shit story, shit characters. The only good thing in 9 was the Chocobo treasure hunt minigame.
I would say download 7 and 8 for your PC. Those two were easily the best ones and will provide you with hours and hours of amazing story and gameplay.

Hope this helps ;)

IX or X
They were the best ones.
Don't play VII, it was really horrible and I don't get why the fanboys love it. Probably because it was the first one in 3D.
Story was terribad.
Disclaimer: i love every FF game to death there all perfect.

But if were to argue how can you say that its story was bad? are you saying X's was good? I love em all but man theres a a dozen things in X that make no sence!

Hes asking about oppinions not hate. All FF games are masterpeices in there own right.

Making this short since it's probably the 100th time I answer that question.
VI and IX are the best, never got into V and older, VII and VIII are alright, X and XII are bearable, XI is terrible, haven't played XIII and XIV.

You can play all of them (except XIII and XIV) on an emulator, your PC's specs are good enough for that, although you might have to tweak PCSX2 a bit. VII and VIII have PC versions, VII at least has a patch that updates the graphics.

Funny thing is your being sarcastic but i completly agree. FFXIII was my all time favorite. FF6 was my least favorite and i had a falling out with the series with it but i still think its okay.

Am not being sarcastic.

Might also want to clarify that it is dependent on where one lives and if one is actually playing via the disc. In the US by way of example there is no legal way to justify using an ISO image or ROM file as they are are copies of the software and as such copies are not protected.(Edit: Even if you copied the files from the discs) If you own the discs ... thats a more of a gray area.

You're going to have to live with the fact that I'm not being sarcastic. VIII is a uniquelly designed game with not only one of the best developed and psychologically complex character anywhere in an interactive medium, but who is also probably one of gaming's definative anti-heroes, as well as the most fleshed out example of the "toughguysoftheart" chracter archetype.

It also has one of the more distinct art designs in the series history, certainly the most realistically designed characters in the series history, and Nobuo Uematsu's incredibly unique soundtrack to go with it.

Also, while whether I actually like it or not, or whether it's any good, is still up for debate, however, XIII is certainly a bold statement about how video games can be made, proving that an RPG without towns, NPCs, open, explorable worlds, or even respawning enemies for the sake of grinding, is still an RPG.

Also, I'm not a great fan of VI either. Kefka is by far the most overrated villain in this medium, and the design makes it so that, early on, you're kicking ass, what with Sabin's combos, Edgar's tools, and that samurai's sword attacks, but as soon as you get the espers the game wants you to start doing an ass-ton of grinding and the game gets incredibly dfficult if you don't. It's basically what IX would be later on, except much less refined.

IX, for the record, is really fucking good.
