I haven't played MW3, but Battlefield 3's singleplayer "campaign" was a shitty, railroaded piece of american propaganda point-and-click adventure.
This is not a dig at USA, just a fact.
Screw you, quicktime events.

Battlefield 3 should have stuck to what the Battlefield series is known for: multiplayer. That campaign...man, a waste of sixty dollars for me. Just traded the game in. Can anyone tell me why Solomon was doing what he was doing? Not once does it explain why he's blowing things up and being evil. All we get is a quick mention of revenge. Revenge for what?
And who the hell were the two guys talking to Blackburn? It was just bad writing all around.

While Modern Warfare 3's campaign isn't about to win any awards--and to me, it doesn't end properly--but it's a million times better than Battlefield 3's. Those last two levels though...they just felt a bit rushed to me, and it took away from the story.

A narcoleptic monkey on paint thinners would be able to complete battlefield 3's campaign. At least modern warfare has some challenge

MW3's campaign had an amazing set-piece scenario on an aeroplane and a cool sand storm scene.

BF3's campaign had numerous attempts to imitate MW and a QTE fight against a rat.

Hey, the Rat Boss was cool. Epic battle, and I liked how you'd give it the finger if you lost against it.

But anyway, buying BF3 for the singleplayer campaign is buying BF3 for the wrong reason.
Battlefield 3 is all about large-scale, multiplayer warfare on large maps, not this crappy singleplayer stuff made in attempt to lure over the people from CoD.

This doesn't quite make sense. You said they should've stuck to multiplayer, which they did. Did you only buy the game for the single player? If so, why? I mean, the campaign was less than spectacular, but the multiplayer.... Oh, man..... The multiplayer :)

I did indeed buy it only for the single player. Multiplayer isn't really my thing, and I've never picked up a Battlefield game before. However, the trailers and the hype around the single player--plus that tank demo level--all made it seem like it would be worth it. My mistake. Their multiplayer is solid, no doubt about it, but it's not my cup of tea. I would never have picked the game up if I had known in advance...

MW3's campaign is much more interesting and it is clear what you are doing, it was not so on BF3, also the characters are more better, well, characterised, like you actually care about the main characters, again i did not give a fuck what happened to the assholes sitting behind the goddamn jeep and hitting nothing. in. the. entire. campgaign.

MW3 by a LONG shot.

Better overall "writing" (if diving head first into a tactical knife is writing), gameplay that actually works well within the game's design, and set pieces that don't actually kill you. Not to mention COD since the MW iteration has been about high-speed action in multiple places & it works well & at least there's an idea what you're doing; plus at least we can "like" the characters in a way. Plus the SP actually links into elements in the MP in a way.

If BF3 wanted a "single-player" mode, they could've either done a BF2 & provide the multiplayer maps with bots to play with & get accustomed to the vehicles (desperately needed), or did what BF2: Modern Combat did & create an SP designed like a mission-based MP game (HotSwapping with multiple classes to utilize in-game, vehicles as well with a sort of "level up" system that leveled up EVERY class as you ranked up in SP). I don't see why it couldn't work in BF3.

Battlefield3 has very pretty scenery and an awesome ride in a jet (with pretty scenery. Seriously, that scenery is fan-fucking-tastic).

...That's about it. Haven't even played MW3 and I can already tell you that it's better than BF3. I mean, shit. I actually put down the game halfway cause it was fucking boring.

AN FPS. BORING. EA done fucked up for the SP.

But the multiplayer is great, as usual.

MW3 - Thrillride game.

BF3 - Interactive movie. I'd call it 1/4 shooting, 1/4 scripted events, 1/4 vehicle, and 1/4 QTE. Oh god, the QTE's... I could count them and they'd probably number in the twenties to thirties.

If you want singleplayer, get MW3.

Other than the stupid jet level, I prefered BF3's single player. CoD just seemed too much over the top for my liking, and the story was as poor as any other FPS. Whilst BF3 wasn't perfect, it was a better experience for me and I enjoyed it more. CoD on the other hand I became tired off after a couple of minutes. Neither's single player is good, but out of the two I prefered BF3. If only they had of included the Botmatches they had in BF2 single player...

I'd say that MW3 had the better campaign just based on entertainment. Plowing through a small army while wearing juggernaut armor was pretty enjoyable. Both games had pretty shitty stories though, both campaigns were really short, and neither one made a great amount of sense.

All in all, both campaigns fail. MW3 probably had slightly better set pieces though.

I hate MW 2 and 3, but with that said I can easily say that its campaign is leagues better, playing BF3s campaign is like someone inserted a sick joke into the game
