Poll: Which Pet is Superior, Cats or Dogs?

Alright, so in my English class, we are doing a debate about which pet is better, a dog or a cat. This is fairly interesting topic to debate, it really depends heavily on what kind of person you are, and what kind of relationship with a pet you want. I'm not telling which side I am on, but I'm curious what my fellow Escapists think. If there are any major reasons why, post them below as well.

I personally prefer cats.
I'm a pretty lazy guy, cats aren't as demanding as dogs. You don't have to walk them everyday and give them constant attention. I mean I'd still love the pet, but sometimes I just don't have the energy.

Cats. They're low maintenance and are so darn cute. They're usually independent and aren't in constant need of attention and don't smell vile or slobber all over you. And they poop in a box and not all over the damn yard where I might accidentally step on it while I'm mowing.

Dogs... smell and slobber oh wait I said that already. I do have dogs though and love them very much but my cat is just simply the best. #FelineMasterRace

I much prefer Cats. They aren't as high-maintenance or demanding of your attention like Dogs.
Besides, I like having a creature that openly kills things for entertainment/food and thinks of you enough to bring some pieces back. Dogs... They just shit in the garden and expect you to clean it.

Dogs by miles. You can actually do stuff with them past waving a feather or something for two minutes, like running, swimming, kayaking, all sorts of stuff. On top of that, dogs can be trained to be productive and useful in addition to being wonderful companions. Unless you live in an old barn with mouse problems, cats don't do anything practical. Sure, there's a difficulty curve with dogs, but a well trained one is miles better than any cats I've ever met.

Cats. They're usually friendly and you don't have to pick up their feces. They don't only want to know you when you've got food either. One of the two cats that I've got howls and scratches at my door if I go away so it has to be let in, where it will sleep on the end of my bed where it will wait for me to get back. Also, wet dog is an awful smell.

Anyway. Dogs make the better pet, no matter how you look at it because Cats are not pets at all, they are tyrannical overlords made of pure spite and... you get the picture.

Dogs are just better company and they don't take you for granted (Which is the impression cats give me).
