I'm not sure, none of my parents wealth was inherited but I still went to a public school and a very good University. So am I Upper Class or Middle class?
It's less about inheritence and more about lifestyle IMO. If you live in their house and they pay for your school and food then I'd say it depends on your parent's lifestyle.

My family was lower working class until I was about 11, then my dad (who built fences) cleared off and mum got a better job as a sister nurse, so we started moving up a bit. Then I was lucky enough to win a scholarship into a private school, and I'm the first person in my family to go to University. That said, I think I'm lower middle class at the moment, but if I work at it, who knows what I can get to?

It's funny, but when I went to the mandatory shrink session at our college, he told my my psychological class was very different to the class in which I was born...

Well, By your definition. My Father is a plumber through trade, However, he owns his own business. I'd say upper working class but we make 120K a year and live in a pretty nice house. I personally always considered us upper middle if anything.

Though now that I think about it, he did attend uni for physiology classes, I don't know if he got a degree though.

Working Class. All of you middle class people need to get off of your high horses... and come to my fantastic restaurant! ... the one I serve in. I don't own it.

Upper Middle Class. My dad never went to college, but I've always lived in really nice houses and had a stay-at-home mom. I went to private school for seven years, but I'm back at public. I'm incredibly blessed.

As for the "inheritance" aspect, all I inherited from my grandparents was a hundred dollars in pennies, a collection of stolen shot glasses and a rock that looks like an owl. Pretty much everything I have come from my dad's hard work.

I would have to say I was born into a family so poor we had to look up to see the poverty line.

According to these definitions, lower middle class. My dad doesn´t have a college degree, just high school but has a fine but rather typical white collar job (a buyer for a furniture company). I don't know how much he earns, nor do I care, since I have to pay almost everything I want myself. Every piece of hardware I have is 100% earned by me, the bulk of my games is bought by me (some given for Christmas, but they were always a shared gift with my brother), the clothes I wear (except underwear) is bought by me (I have a small allowance of 40 euro's a month to buy clothes, but that's never enough) and I have to pay college myself (together with state support) and I even manage to put some money aside on a savings account every month.

Yea I'm quite happy with my situation, sure I don't get a lot, but it's satisfying to know that that 32" Full HD LCD tv is 100% earned by myself, and that the family only has a shitty, old CRT tv, and that their computer is an old and rotten monstrosity while I have a high tech gaming machine. Thus, I couldn't care less about the class I'm born in.

Born into working class, got a friend from the upper middle class though that is putting me up and paying for my college. It pays to have friends. :)
