Poll: Who Do You Love More?

This is an anonymous vote so please be as honest as possible. I know this is a hard question but imagine you had to choose to have one or the other in your life. I want you to think hard about this one. If you still can't make a choice then go for the politically correct (but sometimes truthful) "Both Equally" answer.

A simple question really. I don't have kids so I have no idea about this, but i've always been curious if people love their children more than their spouses, vice versa or both equally.

I'm tempted to corrupt your poll, because to put an honest answer, I'd have to a) get married and then b) have children.

I'm curious to see the results, myself. But there can't be that many married+parents on the Escapist...

I have neither, but I can't imagine loving some snot nosed punk kid more than the woman I chose to spend my life with.

Unless, of course, the kid was perfect and the wife and I grew apart.

Theoretically though, I believe choosing the child is the only reasonable option. As its parent, I have a duty of care towards it seeing as I'm the one who brought it into the world. If one is not prepared to sacrifice everything for their child if need be, then they should not be spawning. Also, I doubt that in a one-or-the-other situation that my hypothetical spouse would be thrilled that I let our child die (or whatever) for his sake.

Choosing the child just makes more logical sense.

Edit: I initially just assumed this was another "they are both drowning" situation. However, reading through it again, this isn't necessarily a life/death situation. So:

I think in a "it's me or the kid" divorce situation, you'd still be a dick if you didn't choose the kid. You took a risk when you decided to have that child. You can't just bring someone into the world, then go "Nah, you're difficult, fuck off".

I think it'd be honest to say that I love them both equally, but if I had to save one or the other, I think I have to go with children.

I dunno, I'm not married and don't have any kids so I can't say which one I love more. But everyone tells me I'll love my kids a lot more

I'd assume I'd love someone I chose to spend my life with more than any child ever.

I am not particularly a fan of children.
