I don't see this subject for this year, so I'm asking. Who plans to go shopping on Black Friday this year? With stores leaking their Black Friday ads earlier each year, it's possible to make up a game plan sooner than Thanksgiving day now. I intend to hit a few stores as there are some great deals on consoles and handhelds (a Vita purchase is likely for myself). Are there any deals you just can't pass up?

I am curious who else intends to join in the insanity.

Also, is anyone else tired of stores opening earlier and earlier? I know I am. 8 PM on Thanksgiving day is crap!

When's Black Friday?

Isn't that the American shopping day where people die?
A Week from tomorrow (the day after Thanksgiving) and yes, although those stories have been greatly exaggerated.

OT: I'll probably be going out, but at a reasonable hour. Most of the time the stuff that absolutely flies off the shelves is the most heavily marketed and newest stuff, not necessarily the stuff you actually plan on buying. The trick is to call around after you get up, find out what stores have what in stock, and in what quantities, and then plan your day from there.

Edit: Changed the first sentence to something less folksy, because I realized this was Thursday, not Tuesday. I only have class two days a week, my class on Monday was cancelled but not my classes on Wednesday, so for some reason I was thinking today was Tuesday and Friday was still a few days away.

I've got two words for you: online shopping.

I'm amazed people with internet access and credit cards will still go out to Wal Mart and get in a shoving match just to get a game for $10 off.

Nope. I used to work retail, and I won't do that to these innocent fucktards who aren't lucky enough to have a good job.

I have a severe allergy to crowds and being stepped on by soccer moms.

So no.
I hear that's quite a common allegery, somehow exclusive to you Americans. I heard it has a times lead to a sudden case of death. Luckily for you then, since it only seems to happen during a few weeks in November. Never knew allergies could work like that.

You yanks have some stupid traditions...So let me get this straight after sorta sorry we stole your land way you go to yay capitalism murder shopping spree day...

Although then again I guess we do a similar sort of thing after mandatory happy gift giving day...they call it boxing day for a reason I guess. Or do you do that as well?

Ye I think I prefer I would give that one a miss...Get things when I need it. And get the deals when I can at other times.

I'd rather have each and every one of my nails ripped off than even step foot out of my house on Black Friday.

I live in the Northern VA area, and to say it gets insane would be an understatement. You'd think they were giving away items for free the way people swarm, descending upon the stores like a plague of locusts.

Glad I'm not the only one who's heard stories of people crushed to death in stampedes at wedding dress shops, etc.

I seem to recall it's called Boxing Day because during the Victorian era (when most of our Christmas traditions were established) it was the day that the household servants were given their Christmas money (in Christmas "boxes" - usually made of clay, like a piggy-bank).

Now it just seems to be the day that we all buy new sofas.

We got something in Sweden called "mellandagsrea(between days sale)", with sales between Christmas and New Years Eeve. Will probably scout for something then. Not really intrested in anything at the moment however, except for weights or other work out equipment. Don't think those items are usually part of the sale.

As others have said...
No I'm staying home. I won't see the sun on Black Friday.
I used to work retail, I don't know if that colors my opinion or not.

I'm even seeing pre-Black Friday sales, some stores here are calling Thanksgiving "Black Friday Eve".

Definitely not, I have worked retail in the past during Black Friday, never again. Im not venturing out at all on Black Friday. Ill let all the morons beat eachother up for deals they can get anywhere at all times of the year. I would rather shop online anyway. I like to use my Amazon Prime Membership :)
Yay Amazon Prime :D *high fives*

OT: Yeah there isn't really anything I would even get in a shoving match for that I couldn't just get online. Plus why would I want to spend my college break doing something silly and stressful like that when I should be catching up on the important things (so far behind in so many games >.<)

There's no point to go to the store physically anymore. Honestly the few "ringer items" are pretty much taken by the people who have been camping out for 6+ hours before the store opens. I'm pretty much going to sit at my computer have a warm drink and see what pops up online.
And now some stores are opening 10p.m on Thanksgiving, holy hell wtf is wrong with this country?
