Since... well... forever... Cats have been always labeled as evil. I know there are a lot of Cat lovers out there and you can feel free to voice your opinion on why they are awesome but this thread is mainly addressing those of you that despise Cats.

I was in the car with a cousin of mine not long ago. I remember he was trying to impress me by driving fast and other crap. Frankly, that didn't really impress me. At one point however he deliberately swerved to try and run over a cat. He laughed after-wards. I looked at him confused and asked him why he did that? He told me something along the lines of that it wasn't the first time he has swerved to kill a Cat.

TV/Media/Movies are geared towards making the cats the bad guys, the losers, or the Antagonists. Just once I would like to see something that goes against the grain and switches the roles. One could argue the dogs in a Looney Toons cartoon are 'evil' when they chase Sylvester but then Sylvester is always trying to kill a bird or something.

I would like to point this site which shows a list of shows that run this cliche into the ground:

My question is simple. If you hate cats; why? What did they do to you? How do you justify hating one type of pet and not another such as a Rabbit, Fish, or Gerbil?

For those of you that are cat lovers then I direct you here for a very interesting read!:

For those of you that wish to complain about this thread in any way I direct you to this site instead:

For a great movie that has a Cat and Dog working together I would suggest none other than:

EDIT: The poll didn't work for some reason.

Pretty much, and why not just get a dog or another animal that might acknowledge your existence for more time then it takes to feed them?

I don't know, but it's bullshit and needs to stop. Kitties are fucking awesome.

I have four cats currently and a few in the past who moved on. I love cats and kittens to death and dislike Dog's strongly. I do not know why they're so hated. It makes me sad, especially seeing how many are left homeless just to be put down. It breaks my heart,so I try to adopt as many as possible, but I know it'll never be enough to save all of them.

I assume it has something to do with evolution and our cave-dwelling ancestors' paths crossing with the larger felines and so on but I have no idea. I hate cats because I'm allergic to most of them and I find the hairless ones hideous.

Hmmm, that sounds more like the dogs my folks have owned. The cat I had followed me around everywhere and nuzzled up close when I was sleeping (though he did purr in my face to wake me up).

Edit: I like dogs just as much as I like cats, though I prefer big dogs. Little yapper type ones are not for me.

I'm allergic to cats.
In their presence, my life is a living hell.
There you go.

Also, that one cat that I know was left alone at home for a few weeks a few weeks ago, thought that she was abandoned and crapped all over the couches.
Evil cat.

That seems a bit biased doesn't it? Just like people cats have personalities. Some can be quite foul. I have two kittens, one is extremely playful, lovable, friendly, and affectionate. The other is a selfish little shit. I don't mind dogs but I could never have one as a pet. Sure they would be very affectionate but it's a much larger responsibility. I however am not biased against dogs for stupid reasons and anyone that ever even considers animal (or human) cruelty deserves to be shot in the head.

Exactly, dog are loyal and love you, cats just stick around long enough for you to shell out food then leave again.

Is that really a reason to deliberately kill a cat though? You rarely here about people trying to murder dogs in comparison to the number of cats slaughtered every year. Although granted cats have an innate ability to climb fences.

See the other response in regards for the second remark though. It depends on the personality of a cat. It would be foolish to assume all cats think and act in the way you have described. Some do, many do not.

Some cats sort of have that "I don't care about you" look in their eyes all the time. It's just....unsettling.

Cats want to be around you because your lap is warm.
How do you know that exactly? Again while it could be true for some, it isn't true for all. Cats are also very different to dogs, they show affection in a very different way.

Thank you for acknowledging "Some" cats. Many people assume all cats act a certain way based on their observations with one or two. It's the same as racism or sexism really. Making a generalization based on a large population based on a small sample size. Ergo: stupid.
