Yeah, why? We want to get heard? Or be part of an online community? Or just out of boredom? Or just to get new badges? To find out what other people think?

To voice your opinion on matters of various importance.
Or random matters as well :p

And sometimes.. Well.. I just post kittens.
See? Adorable!

I pick answers 1, 2 and 5.
If you make posts for badges or out of boredom then you shouldn't be posting.

When you say create posts, do you mean create threads. I'm a little unclear there.

Do you mean "why do we create threads"? A lot of people to do it to get those fancy badges but it usually turns out the moneys you make for pure conversational purposes get you a lot more replies than the one you make for badges. I make threads because then I can be as off topic as I damn well please because I AM THE TOPIC MWUAHAHAHA!

It's a combination. Sometimes I want my opinion on something to be known by others, or wish for others to give me feedback on it. Other times it is a good way to get information. Sometimes it is out of boredom. I'd imagine you'd be hard pressed to find anyone on any forum who come there for only one reason. Except for trolls.

Boredom.

Everyone has something to say, and internet forums exists so we can say...

What we sometimes shouldn't.

Right.

What those three people said is my thoughts exactly. I give my opinion and thoughts on the topic at hand. Sometimes I raise questions on whatever topic we are talking about, and I create threads when I need to ask or talk about something that has snever been done before.

Are you sure about that? I would think that a lot of good posts come from someone passing by because they are bored.

I like to be clever.

Yes, that is a bit self-serving, but it's generally a good thing to show your intelligence on a forum. So, I like to be witty whenever the feeling strikes me, give people a laugh or make a good (or at least different) point about the subject at hand. This subject's very meta, in fact.
