Normally, I don't do this sort of thing. That is, making a forum poll thing to ask a question. But I'm iffy on a subject, and I would like some advice.

Basically, I've been watching Destiny for a while, and because I like the sort of thing that Destiny provides, and that Taken King was supposed to have improved the game immensely, I've been considering buying the game. However, at the same time, for a while now, I've had my eye on Xenoblade Chronicles X, and am really excited for it. The problem is that I don't have a Wii U. And for anyone else, this wouldn't be much of a problem. But, as I am in school at the moment, and my hours had to be cut severely, as in 10-12 hours a week on average, I don't know if I'd be able to afford both any time soon. Most of my money is being poured into obligations, such as keeping up my Adobe subscription for classes, buying gas and food and so on, and so I can only afford one of the two at this moment. It's a first world problem, I know, but I'd still appreciate some advice from you guys.

Well Xenoblade Chronicles X is not out over here and and I have not played the japanese version so usually it would be difficult to say but for me the easy answer would be Xenoblade. That and Bayo 2 are the two reasons I own a WiiU.

Xenoblade Chronicles is one of the best games ever made imo and Destiny is bloody horrible. I dont know about the improvements but it sounds like the taken king added some of the game back in but I played the original for 50 horrible hours because some of my friends also had it but even the fun of playing together could not keep us coming back for longer than that. So on my basis of Xenoblade Chronicles being awesome (so I am hoping the successor follows suite) and Destiny being one of the most dull disappointing games I have ever played I would get Xenoblade X.

But really unless you were going to put something like Soul Calibur Lost swords against it I would never choose Destiny over anything. I would rather never play another game again than touch that game again.

I think Xenoblade X will be something of a big deal. If it's anything near its prequel, it'll be great. Can't wait to explore that insane world.

Buying a game that costs 60 bucks or buying a console and a game which would cost around 250-300 bucks, quite the wide range with your options here.

You are aware that Destiny has a demo that you can play to get a feel of the game? Just download the demo and see if you enjoy it, also it helps if you have friends that also have the game, as this will increase you enjoyment of it.

As for the Wii-U thing, if you don't have any games you want to play on the Wii-U aside from Xenoblade X, then don't buy a Wii-U just yet. Wait a year, maybe two and buy it then, the game will still be around, so will the console, however both will be significantly cheaper by then.

Xenoblade, but that's just what I would do, because I bloody love JRPGs and am considering getting a Vita just for Persona 4.

Destiny locks out content if you don't buy expansion packs.
There's LESS in the base game then at release, and if they get away with once they'll do it again to Destiny next year.

Sooo.... yeah almost ANYTHING but Destiny, which for you would be Xenoblade Chronicles X.

Side note: played Xenoblade Chronicles 3DS and I just don't get the hype. It's literally the only one of my 20+ 3ds games I haven't bothered (or be bothered to in the future) complete.

Played Destiny for a short while. Tight shooting and great visuals, but quickly became repetitive. Overall a bit lacklustre, I thought, though I'm glad I gave it a whirl (also glad I didn't buy it myself, though).

Xenoblade Chronicles X looks beautiful, in terms of gameplay, aesthetics and lore, and I'm highly looking forward to it. Didn't play the original, though, so I can't vouch for it too confidently.

I have been considering that as well, believe it or not. But, again, it's a money issue more than anything.

At the risk of hammering the point indicated in the poll home: I own a PS4. I don't have a Wii U and there's very little on the Wii U that I really want. I'm not in work right now (finished a PhD recently, taking some time for myself) so I have no income. I also have a gigantic backlog of everything from TV shows to films to games to work through so I absolutely do not need more things to 'do' right now.

All of that being said, and with multiple reasons for me to not bother getting a Wii U, I'm still very, very seriously considering buying a Wii U just for Xenoblade Chronicles X. It looks amazing and its definitely what I'd pick.

Yeah, don't worry about it. The sheer amount of favor in the poll made me decide on the Wii U. Also, congrats on the PhD.

Maybe you should have played it on hardware that could actually handle it then.

How far did you get BTW?
Ermmm... just past the part where the king feather head people fulfilled his destiny. Had nothing to do with graphics, gameplay just never became fun and I played it a good 33 hours.

I loved every game starting with 'Xeno' since 'Xenogears'. And I've tried 'Destiny' but just don't get into it. The world looks pretty, but is so sterile and without anything to care about. But the Xeno-stories are still very present to me today.

Disclosure: I say this as someone who loves JRPGS and very much enjoys FPS.

Nintendo are being assholes right now what with the lawsuits and mobster mentality on youtube(there is no benefit to partnering with Nintendo on youtube, you just pay your dues and they don't come around and DMCA your stuff). I would say buy destiny now and wait to get everything from Nintendo used so you pay less money and they don't get anything from you.

You can only hope. I guess easy access to digital download versions changes things, but I had one hell of a time getting a copy of Xenoblade chronicles after the fact (about a year after launch).
And I was in Europe, which had the most widespread release of the game.

I think that a Wii U would be the better choice. I have been hearing a lot of negative things about Destiny.

I really can't speak for Destiny since I haven't played it.

As someone who just jumped into Xenoblade the combat system takes some getting used to. (In a sense it almost ruined the game for me.) but from looking it up it kind of follows a similar system to WoW? I'm not too sure.

From what I've heard of Destiny though...people are always angry about the game and they keep playing it. So if your a glutton for self punishment and high stress...go for it?

As for X, game hasn't come out here yet so I can't say anything. If your this uncertain I would say to wait for reviews to come out before making a final judgement.
