As the gap between the rich and the poor grow in the Land of the Free, will America follow the Orwellian revolution formula of the middle/low classes revolting against the high class?

EDIT: IN THE NEXT 50 YEARS
If or If not, why?

God I hope so.

It's not going to happen, but our government really needs a wake-up call. Preferably with explosives.

No. Nobody wants a revolution, there would be no support and they would have to go up against one of the largest militaryies in the world. Besides, where would we go from here? Either communism, anarchy, or some new system.
Exactly. If anything it might be like the Russian Revolution. We'll become what we rebelled against.

Secondly people here in the US are too comfortable right now to even think about revolting. And your point on One of the Largest military stands firm.

you spelled militaries wrong... but anyway, who's to say the army would join a popular revolution?

anyway, i kind of hope so.. i spose it just depends on the ideology behind the revolution, although if its some kind of socialist working class uprising, then yeah that would be awesome.

Uh yeah. Advocating terrorism is unwise. I recall that Timothy McVeigh wanted to free people from an oppressive government, blowing up children in the process. :\

I do not know.

It would depend on many factors and how the pendulum swings again.

Right now as it stand 30% yes, 70% no.

Only because we are still comfortable, but if something happened like a ban on religions or any attack on any constitutional rights (1 thru 10) then the odd shift to 70% yes, 30% no.

The only ones who can stop or start a war is the people who elect the officials to office.

Mandatory politically incorrect pun: I thought americans were revolting already?

OT:
There can be no revolution in any western society since governments have perfected the means of distracting its public from any semblance of unified uprising.
Even the current political climate is just a glorified soap that keep peoples attention focused on inane bullshit rather than the real problems at hand.

Many terrorists of yesterday are the heroes of today... It all depends on who gets to write history books.

OT: No, people today are quite happy with the status quo (or perhaps the word is comfortable). Even when the lower class might be unhappy about the situation, they won't complain unless someone takes their soup operas, their football and American Idol...

Sure, we can have a revolution.

I would just hope that it will be a bloodless one.

The main concept of the "revolution" has probably lost its meaning in the western world, or at least changed somewhat. Nowadays, when we think of "revolution", we think people going out into the streets and firing off whatever they have against an "oppressive" regime, and that stuff only seems to happen in the third-world countries. In more westernized societies, we have more quiet revolutions now, with people wanting a change in government/representation and whatnot.

I don't think we're in desperate need of another revolution/civil war any time soon. Maybe some reform, and hopefully one without any bloodshed, but I'd like to think we've evolved past the use of violence as a way to get something we want (oh the irony...). Changes in the system is far more likely than an all out revolution/civil war.
