If it has a cool design on it then I'd probably consider it.
EDIT: It also depends on how expensive it is.

No, no I wouldn't. I have not yet embraced simulacra sufficiently to enact a direct exchange of real world money for a virtual item.

Even though any time I ever play an MMO I do this exact thing indirectly given that the time spent earning game money equates to some percentage of my monthly fee which constitutes real money.

Trust me, lots of people will be buying these things. Microsoft will be making much more money than the apparently tiny sum they paid Rare to make the crude unimaginative avatars. Lots of profit. And yet Live remains so costly.

No, I wouldn't buy it. If, however, they would have avatar clothing tied to achievements, that I would get behind 100%.

Wouldn't that just be buying gamerscore?

My Avatar already sports a suave and sophisticated white suit that is simply too awesome to change.

It would be earning clothing along with gamerscore.

I don't have a problem with selling avatar clothing and accessories as a business practice. Truthfully, it's really not all that different from developers selling themes and gamerpics; they don't really have any functional purpose, but they're cool to look at.

That said, I'm not exactly going to rush out and buy a pack of Halo shirts for my avatar. I'm really not a big enough fan of the series to justify the expense. If it were Street Fighter or Mega Man, though, I'd be all over it.

What? No. I mean, if you earn a particularly tough achievement, you get some sort of clothing from the game (Shepard's Armor, Ezio's Robe, etc).

EDIT:

That is a massive waste of money.

I would not even wear a Halo shirt in real life - why would anyone pay to wear online clothing.
Why would anyone pay for gold in WoW? Might not make sense to us, but someone will. Someone always does.

Oh I see. That makes a lot more sense.

The maximum I will pay is a buck, and that would have to be for something really cool like the full master chief armor or something

Wha? So you give them your money, and they give you something which makes your avatar look for a Halo fanboy? Why is that desirable at all...
